this video is for my education class, however the horse is for sale, you can see more videos and pictures at softwindsfarminc.com since several people have asked, the saddle pad is from thehaughtyhorse.com
Yes it does. The black one does too, but it fits weird so I don't use it. Each pad had one velcro strap on each side, So four velcro straps total. And yep, you just attach it to the billet strap:)
This is a Selle-Francais, made by Crosby. I looooove it, t's extremely comfy. However, I bought it used. It's pretty dang expensive brand new. Buying used is definitely better unless you're looking to spend a ton. Plus it's already broken in:) But this saddle does make you sit forward a little bit
i already knew how to put on a saddle and everything but you definitely helped other people with your instructions and i kind of knew how to put on a bridle but i have some trouble with it at times, and this really helped! thanks!!! :) and also you have to have the elastic side of the girth on the left side right?
@TheMrcarpkid sure. for grooming: curry comb, soft brush, and hoof pick(preferably with a brush on one end) tack: saddle:) saddle pad, and fleece pad(some riders go without this, or just use a half pad. It's a preference/saddle fit thing) and your girth and bridle:)
I agree that fit is most important. I tried several before this one, even a Pessoa that didn't fit right:( And the extender was already on my girth I think, it just made it easier to fit it on her. I usually ride a pony so I think the girth might have actually been to small,I dont think I tried without it.
if you look at a horse hoof, you will see a "V" shape, dont use a hoof pick on this as you can help the horse is you cut the foot. The rest of the horse foot is hurt, the horse cant feel what you are doing, so dont be worry that you are hurting it. Hope this helps
The black fleece pad has a foam in the center for comfort, but no I don't have a separate piece of foam. This horse is very well shaped and doesn't need any extra padding.
@Horseluver1034 Not always, only if theres a lot of dirt. The hard brushes don't feel to nice on them(imagine it on your skin...ouch) so unless you really need it for a really dirty spot it's really only good for cleaning the dust out of soft brushes.
Hey i was wondering what college you go/went to because it sounds really cool... And are you taking like an equine care class or something? Besides that great video! I already know all this stuff so i dont know why i watched but i did and i liked it! :)
I go to Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. It's just a "how-to" project though, I wish I took an equine class:( But we do have an IHSA team!
I just don't like them very much. I use one if the horse is muddy or something, but that's usually it. I wouldn't want those hard bristles on me so i don't put them on my horse every day, but it's only really necessary if the horse has to much dirt to get off with just a soft brush. This horse was blanketed so she wasn't dirty. It's all a matter of what's needed on any given day:)
@CloverFeildAcers Actually no, I was wrong. She is a hanovarian out of the stallion Landkonig. She has a full sister and brother at the same barn too. My trainer breeds hanos and oldenburgs, I just confused which horses where which.
I hate it when people say i want this saddle lol i just got the saddler to bring out a few and bought the one that fit my horse best not the one that i liked the most. Just a quick question, why do you use the extender? It looks like your girth would fit without it, is it just easier with? I have never seen one before so i am a bit confused :p
My Horse breaths out when I put the saddle on, which means I can't get it tight enough. When I mount the saddle falls to the side what should I do. ive tried walking him round before I get on but doesn't seam to work?
i have a question about the saddle pad (the green one) does it have a strap either side that you have to like loop round the billet strap as i cant see two on each side. So would you have a strap the saddle pad strap over the first billet strap then on the other side of the horse do the same ??? xxx
just a question but um on the girth shoud the left side of the girth be on the same hole as the right side? cause some people say it need to be even but sooo ya pls reply!!!!!:)))
How come you don't use a hard brush? I'm just curious, not trying to criticize. Usually when I ride we use a curry comb, hard brush, soft brush, a human hair brush for the mane and tail and a hoof pick.
