The way to put the leds is great, but the beads and purple resin just doesn’t do it for me.

If you live in New Orleans, the colors and beads work perfectly. :) Thanks for watching!

Might be easier if you glue some string to one end of the rod before removing it, so removing it drags the string through. You can then affix the string to the LED strip, and pull that through, eliminating any pushing.

Great video. I want to do something like this on a smaller scale for my Train layout. I want to put a single led inside a tiny plastic bubble attached to a plastic straw which will go through multiple layers of form. It comes up at the bottom of a little lake. Epoxy will fill the lake over the light. Worried the LED 12 volt light will get too hot inside the little tube. Do you think this will work?

In all it’s a great idea, , couldn’t figure out at the end if the camera was set up bad because in the dark I really didn’t see much other than blurred fuzzy background of finished product.

My plastic tube is really stuck in the resin. Any tips on how to remove it? 🤨
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 2 года назад
The clear plastic tube should stay in the resin. If you want to remove it (for future projects), use a release agent such as Vaseline or furniture wax on the outside. The clear tube should be invisible since it is clear.

You need to saw the edges off. Like he does in the video. That will expose both sides of the tubing allowing you to remove it

Thanks for the good tips. I'm going to do a border of inlaid LED's in epoxy in a small bathroom at the end of the month. Do you have any recommendations for doing something with corners? So far the best plan I have come up with is to use hot glue and glue down a flexible piece of tubing, with a wire/string pre-inserted before bending and gluing down, so can attach LED's and pull through afterwards. Then proceed with epoxy in layers once dried and LED is pulled through. However if there are better ways of doing it, I'm all ears! Cheers

@PahjoDesigns 4 года назад
Hi Michael, the corners may be difficult to accomplish with the tubing unless you cut it with a 45 degree angle and seal the cut for each corner. If you don’t mind a slight bend at each corner instead of a sharp 45, it will work fine. Your plan sounds great to me! Thanks for watching!

Could also coat the rod in Sheathing tape(Tuck Tape) and mold release then cover it with the epoxy. The epoxy forms around it and once dry the rod just slides out with no use of the rubber tubing.

Hi there, how would you add LED’s to an epoxy table AFTER its finished? Our floors are very dark. So our beautiful table has blue rivers that almost look black and opaque because of the dark floor, I’m assuming having some lighting underneath would greatly enhance the color?
@johnalexander9859
@johnalexander9859 4 года назад
Petg tubing for water cooling computers would be best in my opinion. It won't turn yellow like nylon or vinyl tube will especially from the heat and uv from lighting plus it's rigid. Next best thing to glass.

John Alexander that’s a great suggestion. I may try that next time. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

I have a curved piece of root any suggestions with the curve?
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 4 года назад
This will work for curves as well depending on the sharpness of the curve. The rod I used will bend. You just may need to find a way to secure it in place.
@dhirenchhagnlal3141
@dhirenchhagnlal3141 3 года назад
Does this actually work, because I am thinking about doing this. But a little worried that the rod aspect wont work. As in not being able to pull the rod out, because of the density of the resin.
@theoldgaffer
@theoldgaffer 2 года назад
The rod site within a clear plastic tube. The rod is solely there to retain the shape of the plastic tube.

Thanks for the video! I am a lighting designer and I am new to resin materials. I want to ask, is pigmented resin always can diffuse lights from the inside? Is there any technique/case that the color pigment is blocking the lights instead? (Just to make sure i am not choosing the wrong color or technique). Thank you in advance!
@ThePaleampersand
@ThePaleampersand 3 года назад
Hey Putri, you can buy specific pigment mixes that will allow more light to pass through. They are normally labelled as transparent or translucent. Hope this helps!

Hello, if I put the led inside the hose and do the resin hardening process with it there will it spoil?
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 5 лет назад
You need to fill the hose with something rigid to keep the shape during the resin hardening process.

@@PahjoDesigns why ? If the LEDs were in the tube could you not follow Contours of the river
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 5 лет назад
xboxedredfish you wouldn’t be able to remove the led lights. the epoxy is heavy and would compress the tube.
@magbeniraider
@magbeniraider 4 года назад
Did you coat the tube with something to stop the resin sticking to it?
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 4 года назад
No, the resin is supposed to adhere to the tube. The tube protects the rod inside the tube.
