You are my hero! I am almost 40 and my hair has been falling out since I was 20. I am finally at a point that I need a wig and actually ordered my first one online. However, I have no idea what I am doing. I cant thank you enough for the how to video but also you confidence. It has really helped me more than you can ever know!

I have the same genetic hair loss. I'm SURE you hear it alot. Hell, I SEE it alot!! I've done an enormous amount of research into my hair loss , it's been that traumatic for me. It was so thick and full right up to my early 30's(I just turned 50). and suddenly, I started noticing a widow peak when I'd put on a band to cleasne at night!! Thru my 30's, I spent thousands upon THOUSANDS on every "best hair growth' out there. From using the full line of Nioxin for 5 straight yrs (ACCELERATED THE HAIR LOSS!!!) to using various diff minox treatments. And I was always anal about being thorough with any regimine I tried. Did em on clock work..and gave them all significant time to 'see the difference's. (No less than an entire year on every thing I tried) Today....I'm wearing wigs. Lol. In my research, I found gals raised through the 1920-60's, we're 80-90 yr olds with full, thick pixi cut(,by choice for manegment ..lol) hair. That continued through the 70's (ladies born and grew up reaching geriatric in the early 90-2000's). Same thing! Nice full heads of hair they kept cropped for most part. Thick hair is harder to manage with old, failing muscles and joints. That was the common consensus. (I wish I could have that problem?! Lol) Gals born 60-70s raised through 80s 90s..and are mid life now, like myself...the dramatic change in hair loss is frightening. 88% of women in my age bracket, suffer non pattern AND pattern hair loss. So basically... Across the board loss. Now....take younger gals born in 80-90s...I'm assuming that's you? OVER 90% report hair loss issues. OVER 90%!!! The human race is also 30% more (height) as we were in early 1900's. High school freshmen girls looked like high school freshmen girls when I was in high school. Now?? They look like grown ass women. Developed ..etc. Boys look like MEN! Most able to grow a full beard in soohmore year? And earlier. It's scary what our food chain has done to us. I'm a gun toting, God fearing conservative that does Not buy into the whole green house bullshit. But man...there is NO ARGUING what growth hormones ,antibiotics. Etc ..all the shit they pump into any living thing, to keep it 'alive and healthy' WITHOUT human 100% attendance .....is doing THIS to us. WHEW!! THATS a novel eh?? I think ya look outstanding with or without the wig but I know from experience, that doesn't make ya feel any better about the hair.loss. Peace to ya girl friend. Your lovely.
Thank you for posting this! I've got thinning hair in the front too, and have been feeling self-conscious about it, but never thought I could wear a wig. You make it seem possible. It certainly looks very natural on you! I never would have guessed it was a wig if I just met you on the street. I look forward to learning more. :)

This is a very informative video for someone like me who has never worn a wig, but wants to... I have some unique problems. My head is only 20.5 inches around so every wig I have ever tried is far too big for my head. Also... I have never quite understood how to get my waist-length hair under a wig cap... so your video showing these "snap-clips" is something I have never seen before. I am trying to learn more about wig-caps and what kind of wig to buy that will look totally natural like real hair in natural color like a light-auburn sort of copper color. Of course I would be buying a human hair wig unless there is such a thing as a synthetic wig that looks like real hair. My own natural hair color is pure white... platinum... yes, it is long about 4 inches past my waist... I used to use natural red henna in my own hair most of my adult life and I really miss being a redhead.

Synthetic wigs are really made of plastic, using hot curling and flat irons will melt them. Purchase a portable steamer using a comb and the steam to detangle the frizzy bits that happen at the back of the wig from the constant rubbing or the whole wig, which you cane reset in heat rollers or regular rollers and resteam to set the curl. A canvas block, cover in plastic see through bag, centre it onto the canvas block twist or pleate the excess at the base of the back of the block, tape it all over with transparent 1'' clear tape. This will protect your block from getting wet after washing, and from perspiration and soiled wig foundation, and it makes it easy to clean the block. I am a wig maker, have over 30 years working in Theatre have headed many shows and trained many who are gainfully employed, I now work in the film industry and I am mentoring and teaching the new hairdressers who know nothing about prepping hair, wig application and wig maintenance and period hairstyling.

Your videos are very good and your wigs look really great on you. I usually wear full cap wigs so I have to learn how to apply my lace fronts with tap and glue. Thanks again for sharing your story.
You are BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for sharing your story. I suffer from thinning hair as well although I can still get away with using hair fiber powders but have been experimenting with wigs just for a fuller and different look.
Purchasing a wig conditioner may help. I have a lovely spray-on detangler/conditioner that you can use on dry or wet hair. It smells really nice, and doesn't leave a residue like hairspray. Remember too that if your wig is synthetic only buy conditioner for synthetic hair. You can soak it after washing in the conditioner or I've even heard some people use fabric softener. Final tip, only use wide-tooth combs or brushes for wigs. Regular hair brushes made my wigs frizzy. Hope this helped! :)

I too have genetic hair loss and looking at your video gave me inspiration that this just means that now I am thinking of dashing styles for myself that I never thought of before, this is quite exciting actually :p. Question: How well does the wig stay if worn without a wig cap? Is it good for an active/sport day out?
This is so helpful. I recently shaved my head for charity and am still pretty much bald. I love the look of my hair this short, but think it would be fun to have a wig. Have watched this before actually buying one and am now pretty sure I will :') thank you so much x
As a new wig wearer, I found this to be really helpful. What do you do if your wig didn't come with a comb in the back? PS - You are a lovely girl and I'm happy that you have the option of wearing lovely wigs and not stressing so much about hair loss. Some things can's be helped.

You could put some brown eye shadow on your bald spot on top and I am sure it would work to make your hair look thicker. Use the shadow on any spots that there is less hair. 👍🏻 it will make hair spear fuller
That looks fantastic. One thing I have wondered is how to get wigs to STAY in place all day, without having to adjust them, making it very obvious you're wearing one. I used to have gorgeous hair like my profile picture, but now it's thin and looks ratty

im so glad i saw this video..i was diagnosed with scarring alopecia,my hair is like yours and my hair will never grow back,so i been down and worried abt using a wig,if ppl would stare,would it look fake,would it fall off....im going to buy one next week to practice,ty so much for sharing.

@mackenziepolo why would you feel sorry for her? She's absolutely beautiful and her hair looks great! You can't even tell that it's a wig. She's taking control of her life and not letting something like hair loss debilitate her. I have really thinning hair at 24 and I've been considering shaving my hair and wearing wigs. Her videos have really given me hope and they've clearly done the same for others. You shouldn't feel sorry for someone who is so empowered and inspiring.
More and more women are losing their hair, my alopecia started at 5 yrs old and I am now 63 ! The way people treat us today is so much nicer than it was during my younger years, my school yrs were not easy, girls were mean and hurtful and people thought I had some kind of Awful disease! MY several on and off bald patches never bothered my first late husband, my husband of 10 years doesn't mind I have to Wear Wigs he also stayed by my side during Chemo and radiation therapy! Great tips...I typically avoid getting hair cuts out of fear of getting a bad cut but it had been about 5 years since my last cut so...I went to a very nice salon where I had spoke to someone who had a fantastic cut and style done there...long story short, I got a very bad haircut with way too short bangs and I'm now trying alternatives till my hair grows. I have purchased a couple of wigs but was not sure on the best way to put them on and how to keep my hair under the wig. Your video was very helpful...thank you. I'm also researching extensions but my hair is super fine and much thinner due to medications I have to take so I'm a little leary on extensions and the possibility of them making my hair thinner. Question, how do you handle the heat? I find myself sweating and very hot from wearing a wig...any hints on how to best keep cooler while wearing a wig? Thanks.
The way this wig fits is great, especially in the front. I like how you can see a hairline in the front that looks completely natural, not like a wig. Is that what 'front lace' means?
I get u sister I have short hair but urs is longer than mine but it is growing I need to get a wig before school starts and I am 11 how much does it coast I hope my new school will let me use one I never want to be bullied again thanks for the support that i am not the only one with short hair
