How to put Scooter on the Center Stand
Sometimes, especially if you're a new scooter rider, it can be difficult to put your scooter on the center stand. That's why I show you just how to do that in this video.
It's quite simple and easy to do once you get the hang of it. Putting your scooter on the center stand shouldn't take you more than ten second and if it does watch this video for useful tips.

An excellent explanation and demonstration of how to properly put a scooter onto its centerstand! I do EXACTLY the same thing when I put my 800+ lb BMW touring motorcycle onto its centerstand. Great video...keep 'em coming!

Wow, that's counterintuitive. You actually turned the handlebar in the direction I never would've thought was the right way. I assumed you'd need to keep the handlebar straight ahead or, if anything, lock it all the way to the left turning position. But you, instead, turned it as if you were making a right turn!

I am 6ft 5in, I am quite strong. It took this very video to *TEACH ME* the correct center stand position!! OMG! I only received my scooter a few days ago. After knowing I look like an uncoordinated fool trying to set the center stand I have not tried it in public resorting to side stand only. I just walked outside and put this new knowledge to the test. Yet another Ramen video that taught me something. Thanks!!

You know what I just discovered, not all two wheelers have side stands - bummer. Just learning all the parts on my new Vino and found out that it's only got the center stand. Oh well, at least I've become very adept at putting it up on the center using your great demonstration. Am hoping to be able to start practicing riding this weekend as I'm just waiting for my new boots to arrive in the mail.

What if i don't have that little L shape on my center stand that allows me to stand on it? I just have a peg that sits on the ground like a normal stand, but works like a center stand, im quite a weak dude so would this still work?

I had a Honda CB900 that weighed just under 600lbs. It was *almost* impossible to get it on the center stand.

I learned center stand from a video of a guy who has a Honda Silverwing which is a pretty large scooter over 500cc. He had not one but Two people sit on the back of it and was able to center stand it with ease. Actually the heaver the bike the easier it is to do because the weight helps with the fulcrum point. But you gotta know the Trick which is to make sure Both feet of the stand is firmly on the ground. If one is off the ground, you won't be able to center stand it or it will be very hard to do.

A 150 scooter so I haven't tried it on a larger bike but I trust the guys technique because after watching many videos, that trick was the only thing that got me able to center stand my scooter. I'm 5'2 110 lbs and the 200 lbs scooter is a Beast for me. I'd try to manhandle it onto the stand with brute force and no matter how many videos I saw of people doing it, none of those techniques worked. Once I knew to actively look for and Feel both center stand feet being firmly planted on the ground, the bike went on the center stand with almost no effort at all, almost like magic. That's because now the physics of the fulcrum point was able to work properly.

Sorry but this just doesn't work for me. Although I put all my weight on to the stand pedal, and hold the scooter (Agility 50 carry) firmly by the back carrier, it often just won't go. I'm left hanging in the air, in dire danger of me and the scooter then falling over on top of me. And my Agility is heavy, that could mean serious injury for me (62 kg). My brilliant scooter instructor once demonstrated how to do it, but now I seem to have lost the knack. Is there any hope for me? Is any new assistive technology up and coming?

You'd be surprised on how many people I have seen retching themselves. Just trying to get their "hog" on the center stand.. It's funny yet sad that these people have been riding for years and still never figured out the easy way. Your principle is the same. Whether on a moped or a fully dressed goldwing. 1st. Click on your name above your comment (which should take you to your page) 2nd. Click on your blank icon face. (it will redirect you to your google account) 3rd. If you're new to scootering, you're probably making the classic beginner's mistake. You're standing too far away from the scooter. Don't try to put it onto the centerstand at arm's length. Stand close to the scooter, your right knee might be touching it during the lift...this is just fine. You want to lift the rear wheel as straight-up as possible while using your weight on the centerstand foot pad. Don't be afraid to put your full weight on the foot pad...you won't break it. If your reaching out-and-up to lift the rear wheel, you've got no strength that way. I was taught (a looooong time ago) that I should be looking straight down on the seat as I lift. I've seen 110 lb women put full-dress Harley's onto the centerstand with ease. Once you know how to do it, it's easy. I hope this helps you...good luck.

Ramen On Wheels Thanks for the response! :) Would you say the center stand is more stable? I noticed I have a mounting point for a side stand, but not sure if it’s worth attaching one if the center stand is better to use.

The side stand is more convenient but the center stand is definitely more stable. If I had to go without having one, I would go without the side stand. Having a center stand is much more important than a side stand. But in the end, its up to you whether or not you think installing a side stand is worth the extra effort.
