If you want to put text, or honestly any effect behind a subject in a video, there are multiple ways to do it in DaVinci Resolve 18.5!
I'm going to show you how you can do it in both the free and paid versions of DaVinci. And all of these ways look amazing! They're really just dependent on what type of shot you're working with.

🌆 Scenario 1: Simple Shapes (Free Version)
Duplicate your clip (Alt/Option + drag).
Head to the Color page and create a mask around the object using the curve icon.
Track the mask for smooth movement.
Add an Alpha output, and voilà - your text seamlessly sits behind the object.
🌳 Scenario 2: Detailed Objects (Free Version)
Duplicate your clip again and navigate to the Color page.
Utilize the Qualifier tool to select the sky. (Shift + H reveals your selection)
Add an Alpha output, and invert the selection.
Now, your text elegantly appears behind intricate objects like trees.
🎭 Scenario 3: Dynamic Objects (DaVinci Studio)
Duplicate the clip, head to the Color page, and open the Magic Mask tool.
Choose 'Person' and draw a rough line around the moving subject.

Duplicate the clip and switch to Fusion.
