Thank you! I played clarinet for 3 years but have wanted to play saxophone for so long, and I FINALLY got an alto. But.. I am clueless 😅 so thank you so much for these videos!
No offense, but when I watch a tutorial for something like this it either means I'm a low-level kid who doesn't take lessons, or I just want to get straight to the point unlike most teachers. Someone like you is doing a great job and potentially saved me from changing my instrument (a 3 year choice)
Your video(s) have helped me begin my saxophone journey. Thank you. I uploaded my first saxophone video today (featuring your videos) as I took my first steps with the sax. =)
thanks for the guidance. I just got alto sax that belonged to my grandfather. I want to learn to play and could not assemble never mind playing. I have assemble it and I still don't know where to begin. I guess I have to find a teacher to start learning how to play an instrument. Thanks once again.
Can someone please answer this question for me? I don’t understand which way the reed goes. The flat part against your lower lip and the “curved” side against the mouthpiece? The video was unclear. Sorry, I just bought my 1st sax yesterday. Don’t know a thing.
Frank I have no clue. I'm just taking my brand new saxophone out-of-the-box it just came today. I'm trying to find out about where to put the grease. And I hope I can put my reed in water I don't want to get saliva all over it and get germs on it. I've got my neck strap adjusted. We're lost lol.
Thank you Jamie, I think you described what to do very clearly indeed - probably the fullest explanation on here BUT please, please, please - why must we have the background music? Don't you realise that we are hanging on your every word? I for one cannot multi-task; I can listen to you talking or listen to the background music - not both.
I think I may have a slighhhhht tiny tiny bend in the bell rim of my tenor from lifting it out of the case daily, by the bell. I don't think this affects the tone since it's like, not even a millimeter of discrepancy (I put a 'heavy' hard plastic disc on the rim and saw some pinlights) But I think I will have to be even more careful lifting it out of the bag, certainly using the thumbrest to aid it from now on. Before I just used the bell to lift it and only the bell. Barely two weeks old the thing, yamaha 62 tenor...so, I'd rather not warp it any further. They really should put proper handling in the manual.
@@GetYourSaxTogether I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear but is the reed supposed to be touching the end of the mouthpiece since my reed won’t go to that point and I can’t make any sound on my saxophone
Jamie, thank you for organizing and presenting the basics in the manner you did. There is so much saliva, however, and no mention of a drool cup. Perhaps contact Monty Python?
