I can tell you, it works! Thankyou for sharing! All the birds I have now are rehomed pigeons :) some of them I did not even have to cut the feathers off. Blessed easter from Norway!
i ve been using lime in my loft for years now and my birds are not bothered by it .only i dont spread it so thickly . love and best wishes from the uk .....ps i enjoyed the vid.
Everything looks great. Most of flyers in middle east rehome the birds like that. Some tie the wings with strings and after a week or two they open the string and let them fly. Thanks for sharing 😘😘😘
@@burakloft568 they take piece of string and start with the first wing feather and tie them until 6or fifth wing and this way the bird can’t fly. There is a video an RU-vid showing it I will find it and share it so you could see it👍👍👍
Solo buchones.😂
You should be wary using course or powdered dry lime. Lime burns the birds feet & the dust will go in their eyes. You should by hydrated lime powder & mix it with water to a running consistency and paint it on the surfaces(white wash it's called) & allow to dry.
I not sure what you ask. This old birds that have flown at someone else home. If you doing older young birds it doesn’t take long for them to Lear your home.
Loved your video. Keep them coming. Very informative. Looking forward to your next one. Please would u cover more on your experience with staring up as a new beginner in this hobby of keeping pigeons as a hobby?
After putting the tape on and then letting them out on the roof when should I take the tape off to let them fly normally? Thank you. Have taped mine they have walked around the roof for 1 hour. Trying to rehome some old birds as a test for myself.
When I put the tape on I cut there wings ends than waited 14 days. Than pulled the the wings I taped. But I still let them out so if take about 6 weeks for the new Flight feathers to go back in.. After they are all done growing back in they stayed around
@@oconnorlofts7519 I lock my birds up for 3 months. So they know where they food and water come from. After I tape the wings I let them out. But I would leave tape on for about 6 to 8 weeks before removing the tape. Dose this answer your question?
Help I've got them in my attic I guess they have been here a while I have to close it up but now there's eggs can I put them in a box in a tree? Will the big ones move if I make a hut for them? I don't want to catch em
Time Stamp 8 mins 50sec. When you say "pull" the last 3 flight feathers does that mean they fall out when u tug on them or are you physically removing those 3 feathers quills and all? I'm wondering or trying to pickup jj uni ú
I no a guy who buys and trains solid white homers along side his racing stock just so the hawks/falcons pick off the white ones and leave his others alone
Let me put it to you this way, you come see my feral pigeons they fly with my local red tail hawks cause of what my dog did to save a pigeon from the red tail and then my dog had already saved a sparrow, then we saved a pigeon that was born on our balcony from a hawk attack.
I mean I got old birds from some one else and I had them for 6 months I was able to let them out at my house and they stayed there. But this after I clip there wings
Well I have had few people tell me it not good for the birds to use barn lime. It could make them go blind. I seen people use chalk they said that is ok to use.
I honestly like your content especially for pigeons but I have a question about pigeons do you often whistle for your pigeons to make them fly even higher ?
That is great question. Other people might have a different ways but this. But this is what l have done in the past. I cut there food to 1/2 what normal would feed them for like 4 or 5 days and every time I feed them I make whistling sound Letting them know it’s feeding time and they get used to that So every day I try to feed them by hand. by the fifth day some of them will come and eat out of my hand. because they are hungry enough to not be so scared. If that don’t work try to cut their food back even more just until they get used to you then go back up to normal rations
I want until they been at my home for at least three Months before you try this. I tape the wings and cut the tip of feathers wait 14 than pull the feathers. But after I tape the feather and cut the tips I will let them out to see there area. Dose this help?
Ok my pigeon let to be together with the other common pigeon I call her she look a me but don’t come to me she flight way with the rest how to cat he back to come home to me please help
The only time close parents in side is one first pair them up. After they know there box’s I let them come and go into the box’s when they want. I hope this link works to show you. This is video I did one year ago. Called: pairing up my birds day 1 thru 5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JP1xQv75xe0.html
I mean is that someone else had birds that was flying at there house out side and I than taken them same birds to my house and got them to fly at my house after I let them out. But if you don’t want take chance to lose them don’t do it
Well fantall pigeons are just Fancy Pigeon. They never to go very far from the house. If you want something that flies a lot recommending homing pigeon’s.
Excellent video Jack, Really apreciate your ideas on rehoming old birds. I have an unrelated question that watching this video made me think of. Can an old bird be trained for racing if it was never trained or flown as a young bird? I ask because I have a lot of breeders that grew up here but have never been out.
Yes old bird can be trained to race. But I would take it slow. Like let them loft fly for month or 2. Than take out slowly. The birds that never flown that grown Up there. I would do the same thing like I did for re-homing old birds. Than you can train them slowly after they been flying for about 2 months. That is how I would do it.
@@burakloft568 I mean how do they know there house my pigeon flu away a month ago the male and bought another male pigeon and they got married 😁 NO kids😔
They are old birds and the previous owner he used to release theM every daY 😌🤦 so i wanna know how long should i keep my birds before i open my loft so they can play around 🕊️🕊️❤️👌
@@mehlotedipela2228 I would wait at least 6 months. But I have heard of people doing it 3 months. But just remember there is chances if you let them out they might not come back. Dose this help?
@@burakloft568 idk but I want them to be free in the house I have a house but it is tooooooo small and it is built by metal I want to show u the house how can i send the pic
Ive cut 10 primary feathers from old pigeons then after the 3rd clutch of squeakers i pulled the cut feathers. When the feathers grew back they left my loft. If the pigeons are very valuable don"t let them out. Keep them in a big breeding cage.
I won't to start to keep pigeons how many would say to start with I don't won't to race them just just take them a few miles away and then let them fly back home
That is great to here you want to get pigeons. You only have to have few pair to start out with. I really enjoy watching my birds fly around my house. How many do you have at this time?
@@askarthur8893 well you can find some on Craigslist or other auction sites. Sound of birds that I bought I only paid $10 each and they turned out to be really good birds.
Are you kidding me? I have ferals and fancy ferals that end up here and never leave. Pigeons are homers period. Getting a pigeon rehome is like dropping it off on another planet for me. They just keep finding me, and drove off the parrot.
I am not sure what you asking? But I have trying Re-homed 16 pigeons and only lost 2 pigeons so still have 14 birds that was flown at someone’s else’s place and now flying here.
That will not work with a smart homer i know this first hand!! After breeding them i plucked their feathers let them walk the roof until their tips grew back and they still went back home nothing will stop good homers from returning to their original home.
