You can also use the convex side of the roller and roll the screen mesh into the groove FIRST, then roll the spline afterwards. You don't have to push down so hard if you do each screen and spline separately and you can make sure you get the screen taut better without pulling up and re-doing the spline.

on a 20 year old screen do you recommend buying a new spine? My brother just did his and said he you don't need to. I know it's all different conditions, but I was just going to order a "Pet screen" from amazon now. Thanks!

Great suggestion I'm going to do it now. I'm 63 LOL and I'm going to have to use the driveway as my working surface. My screen is 48 by 78. I'm excited to start he makes it look so easy.

Really helpful, Dustin, thanks. I did have to use a wide putty knife to pop the bottom wheels out of the track, otherwise, this 64 year old woman was able to complete and reinstall the door in an hour and a half. Cheers.

@@homemend Finally had a sunny day (yesterday); popped screen right out and went to work. The only issue i encountered was the Width of the Spine. I initially purchased .141 and need the larger .175. Other than that...followed these instructions and procedure was flawless. Thanks for the video. This is one of those "seems Simple Enough' projects; but can easily go sideways unless you follow the little details.

Work for a glass company...glass & screen repairs the gentleman in this video is doing it correctly, rolling one piece spline takes patience & practice to learn... prefer back tape a framing square for window screens Andersons too ND
