If I told you that doing these 3 things could get your SaaS to $1K in just ONE month - would you try it?
95% of founders won't (or are unaware of these) - that's why it takes 9 months, on average, to break $1K MRR.
In this video, I'll show you how to beat the average.

Really great video as always. I can definitely understand why these strategies have done so well. I really like that you also showed what your product was like in the beginning, that it is better to ship something that is barely working than not shipping anything. I would like to live stream building a SaaS because it would help keep me motivated and show my audience what i am working on, however I am not sure how I can prevent showing sensitive information such as passwords. Do you have any suggestions?
@SimonHoiberg
@SimonHoiberg Год назад
Thank you, Casper! Yes - I find it really refreshing when people show their very first versions of their products as well 😁 I've actually been considering something like this as well. If you can "plan" it a bit, you can use something like OBS and then add overlays to cover sensitive information. Alternatively, use temporary passwords/tokens/secrest while you're live, and change them after.
@Deltacasper

$1000 MRR is just THE number! Or 1000€ in our case, since our startup is based in Central Europe. We took 6 long months to reach that number, but when we hit it, we started to see amazing growth, 50% month-to-month. I always thought we took too much time to hit this target, but hearing you say the average SaaS startup takes 9 months kind of relieved me! Great content!

Should I start everything from scratch when building in public or should I build part of the MVP? How are they going to see what I'm building is relevant?
@SimonHoiberg
@SimonHoiberg Год назад
I think you should start with a "slice" of your product. Yes, finding the most relevant slice can be challenging. This is why it's super important to talk to your users.

I find this very interesting, where does this fall in or apply to most software engineers that are naturally Introverts. How can engineers that what to be successful not have to turn to social media for everything ? I think there is a unique opportunity in this space
@SimonHoiberg
@SimonHoiberg Год назад
There could definitely be, yes! Though, I don't see why being an introvert is necessarily a blocker. Most of the developers I know (including some I mention in this video) are introverts, and they're killing it on social 🔥

How would your advice change for niche B2B? In many such niche markets, there aren't going to be many passionate early users, and the buyers are very different from B2C users-who-are-also-buyers.
@SimonHoiberg
@SimonHoiberg Год назад
That's not true at all. You can easily find passionate early users in the B2B world. Take a look at AppSumo - that's basically their entire target group. We started out as B2BC (we still are, but more B2B at this point). Half of our early adopter's group were small business owners.
@Epistemophilos

Smart thinking albeit the amount of time it will take you to build a social media presence that drives results equates to the amount of time it takes indie hackers to get their first 1 k month.

⚠ Warning at 5:50 definetly DON'T build your product based on what group of people say they like to have it. That's against user-centered design. You have to build product for users and yes with them but not with them on call telling you what they like and don't like but by proper user researches.
