Activation helps verify that your copy of Windows is genuine and hasn’t been used on more devices than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow.
When installing Windows 10, the digital license associates itself with your device's hardware. If you make significant hardware changes on your device, such as replacing your motherboard, Windows will no longer find a license that matches your device, and you’ll need to reactivate Windows to get it up and running.
To activate Windows, you'll need either a digital license or a product key. To find out which you need, see "What activation method do I use, product key or digital license?" in Activate Windows 10. Then, use the following info to help you successfully prepare for a hardware change and reactivate Windows 10.

Just Clean Install Windows 10 same edition as previously installed and Windows will get Activation automatically after Internet connection.

@@deveshprajapati8622 when you registered your windows in Microsoft web site to check grnuinnity, you must have done so with a user id and pass word. After you format your pc , if you have installation disk or you may download the iso file, install and login to Microsoft with your original login id,which may be your mail id and the corresponding p/w. That's all.

From the suggestions, I could activate my genuine Windows 10: I already had my hotmail Id, which first logged in and "chose to continue" option. From Settings I reached Activation, and found the error message about Activation, it revealed that I had original Windows Product, and proposed to activate by link shown thereunder. I clicked and with in no time, yes in no time, the activation was over. It is so simple, no on needs to worry and feal fear about the lengthy steps, do this, and then this, and this, and so on, this is very confusing rather understandable, for most of persons who are not techno savvy. @@badrikedar9906 motherboard change hota hai to technician laptop ka serial no dalta hai new motherboard per yeh authority uhn ka pass he hoti hai (kyuki unko company ki tarf sai pendrive de jati hai usmay mai bios ki setting wegra hoti hai serial no change karna ki ) or laptop on karta he vo serial no company ka server per list hota or wahi sai vo window ko activate kar deta hai

@@badrikedar9906 OEM - original equipment manufacturers yeh key ek motherboard sai dusra motherboard per transfer nhi kar sakta tabhi OEM key ko yeh yeh company use karti hai jasa hp dell Lenovo etc yeh OEM. key laptop/desktop (not pre-build desktop) ka serial no sai attached karka company ka server upload kar de jati hai taki motherboard change hota hai usmay sirf serial no dalna hota hai baki aapna aap activate ho jati hai Ismay koi data wegra lost nhi hota Agar window re-installed karoga to vo original window he hoti hai kyuki jb laptop ko net sai connect karoga to company ka server us serial no ko check karka turant activate kar dega. Baki koi or doubt hai to puch sakta ho

Thanks It's easy. I had format pc and they gave me win 11 but I had win 10 OEM key and I just installed Showkeyplus and changed the key and entered OEM key and it's done. Note : I had already upgraded to win 11 before format

Great tutorial video Sir…I have watched this entire video but I can’t find my solution…My situation is I have used Windows 10 Home (Purchased Retail License) in a Acer Aspire 3 laptop but due to the laptop become slow, so I decided to send the laptop to a E-waste agency, but I forget to remove the product key from that laptop and build an assembled desktop. mere laptop mai win 10 installed hai aavi, and show keys plus mai OEM keys win 8 pro ka hai, and current keys and OEM keys match nahi ho raha, mai win 8 pro ka key win 10 or 11 mai karsakta hu kya?

Sir mere desktop pe service Wale bande ne pirated windows install kar diya hai ab kya mai pirated windows me activation key enter Karu ya phir se windows reinstall karna chahiye? Please reply sir 😀 I'm your new subscriber

Sir, maine laptop ko format kar diya tha... Aur mujhe apna jo windows ka product key pta nhi hai aur ab mujhe 'windows 7 is not genuine' dikha rha hai.... Toh ab mai ky karu???

I removed hdd containing genuine win10 & inserted into another laptop (so, mobo change). now, i cannot activate win 10 home edition. I could extract license key, but it doesn't work. no response from Microsoft support. since I inserted the hdd into a dell laptop (from another netbook brand). I've run out of ideas.. can u pls advice? note: I still have the old netbook, in case I've to reinsert into the netbook & extract something.
