Very informative one.Thanks.Could you please explain if its necessary that an efficincy curve should intersect the performance curve? Because, I got an offer from a vendor with a pump curve in which the efficiency curve is below the performance curve. Thanks in advance.

If you need to lift water let's say 3 feet out of a basin and push along 100 feet over flat ground, through a 1-1/2 inch pipe, how do you know what the dynamic head is?

Can you suggest a video on pump heads ?

I'm receiving quotes on a new well. Current well pump is 1hp hung at 580 in a 600ft well. Static water has dropped to about 520. (Current 1hp pump can only develope 10 psi of pressure at this level) I'm moving the well to a lower location in hopes of finding a new water source. 600ft well with 300ft of horizontal line. I do not understand why everyone is quoting 1" line. Why wouldn't 1 1/4 be the standard given the head pressure increase with on 1" pipe. (1" Schedule 120 for well, 1" Poly to the house) One driller provided for a 1hp power motor and the other provided for a 1.5hp which is in the curve. Another suggested a booster pump at the house to provide for a 30-50 switch. Any thoughts?

Pipe size is a function of flow rate. If you are only pumping 5 GPM then 1" line is plenty big. Give us a call if you'd like us to quote your system: 855.329.4519

@@RCworstwater Love your channel. I'm in Virginia. Your RU-vid channel has made me an expert on Wells. I was having water issues at a house I own. The hired experts said: A. " 1 HP pump is too small being hung at 580... need a bigger pump" B. "I see a momentary amp spike when the pumps starts and I should not see that....pump is bad." C." I dropped a little rock down the well and I could not hear it hit water...need a new well" D. "Not pulling enough amps... needs a new pump. " E. "Pulling too many amps.... needs a new pump." No one had invested in a Sonic Water Tool. I eventually dropped 600 feet of 1/2 pipe in the well to monitor the pressure. Would only hold 25psi and would never build past 30psi. Based on the low water level and little to no recovery overnight I decided to drill a new well. Not sure why every service company does not rent to customers a well water monitoring device to determine well water levels. I may even try lowering a lighted camera down the well and record the condition.

What is duty point?.
@RCworstwater
@RCworstwater 5 лет назад
Good question, it's the point where the required Flow Rate (x axis) and Total Feet of Head (y axis) intersect on a pump curve.

Another question sir. "what is the amount of liquid required in the suction side of the pump to overcome the friction and suction losses? A. Head in mic B. Net positive suction head C. Duty point D. Common point

Hi dear friend Can u please explain about vertical submerge well pump please. It is very very difficult to me to understand curve of those pumps and how can we chose For example one typical model in small size is type 152 i bleave. It is 3hp one phase. But i saw some companies change with 3 phase and put more stage on that like 21 stage.and more. Thanks

Thanks for the comment! We plan on making an in-depth guide to sizing a well pump in the near future, keep an eye out for it!
