Getting one of these shortly. Have bad memories of discs not reading when I last tried to rip them to adf using a null modem cable and my old (now gone) amiga. This flux/scp copy might save a few of them hopefully! They were old songs I did on Octamed, and although I have audio rips of them, the chance revisit them in an emulator is very exciting (for me anyway! 😂) Great video and pitched for the enthusiast and not the total tech heads!

Have you tried writing Amiga disks with the GreaseWeazle?

I've not tried it yet, but will do when I get a chance and will aim to make a follow up video

I tested it today. Reading and writing SCP files to/from floppy disks works fine as does writing ADF images 🙂

Hi Great and easy to understand video. Do you power the 3.5 inch floppy drive from the GreaseWeazle tks.

can this be used as a normal pc 1.44 meg floppy drive a or b?? thanks (just like old ibm pc drives a and b??) thanks......

The actual drive is a standard PC 1.44 MB floppy drive, but when connected via the GreaseWeazle interface, it will be seen as a com port. As such, it is not accessible as a drive directly from the OS and needs the GreaseWeazle software/drivers

What is the exact model of the floppy drive?

The drive I'm using is a Samsung SFD-321B, but pretty much any standard PC compatible floppy drive should work

can I use a usb floppy drive to read Amiga disks on a pc? i have a 2x speed fdd? thanks....

You won't be able to use a USB floppy with the GreaseWeazle interface, but you might want to check out the Arduino Interface from Rob Smith as this can be used to modify a USB floppy drive for use as an Amiga floppy drive. amiga.robsmithdev.co.uk

@@RTSRetroTechShed can you also put me in right dorection ware u can get the power connecter and power and ide lead for floppy like yours cant seem to find them thanks :)

Something like this will do for the power connector, it's what I used: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251052767021 - and for the drive cable: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164434352613?var=464051883058 (assuming you're using a 3.5")
