A dietetic student here. Love it when I see content like this on RU-vid, I do think more people need to know how to read labels so that they can be smarter consumers! I am so glad that you added the phrase at the end to always eat everything in moderation. We don’t have to always restrict ourselves from our favourite foods, but it’s about making mindful choices whenever we eat! Perhaps for a future video, it would be great to bring in a nutritionist or a dietitian to convey the message along with tyen and to clarify some misconceptions and questions that are found in the comment section. I’m sure they would be of great value :)

Good fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, avocado and olive oil are good. Vegetable oils (canola, soybean, grapeseed, palm oil etc) aka seed oils are highly inflammatory and leads to many chronic health conditions and increases risk for heart disease.

this is absolutely correct! esp when most of us have poor omega 6:omega 3 ratio and those vegetable oil ain't helping it. trans fats are obvious problems with these vegetable oils. for olive oil though.. our concern has been that there are a lot of olive oil frauds (i.e olive oil brands mixing olive oil with other oil to reduce costs)..it's unfortunate because true olive oil can be a good replacement

I think touching on artificial preservatives are important too. Those are really bad for you and your health.

a medicine student here. natural sugar is as bad as processed one lol. u can eat too much fruit. and there are excellent artificial sugar (i.e stevia), better artificial sugar (sugar alcohol) than fructose (the sugar in fruit)

Hello ! Does that mean that it'd be recommended recommended get sugar from stevia or sugar alcohol vs eating fruits?

Dietetic student here! In general, sugar is not evil. Its the amount of sugar we consume that is the problem :) It doesn’t really matter what kind of sugars you consume because ultimately, the body still breaks it down to glucose for energy. The reason behind recommendations to reduce intake of added sugar in our day to day is because added sugar intake is a very easy way that many of us consume excess calories, which leads to increased weight gain and increased risk for chronic diseases. It’s true that one can eat too much fruit. however, lots of studies indicate that we actually do not eat enough fruit (2 servings per day). Fruits are great sources of fibre, vitamins and minerals. Adequate intake is also associated with better diet quality and improved health outcomes. so I think it’s always best to shift focus away from whether fruits are bad but to focus more on how we can reduce added sugar intake :) Artificial sweeteners can benefit those who want to slowly minimise their sugar intake or for people with diabetes. It is generally safe to consume if FDA recommendations are followed. But one thing to note is that artificial sweeteners are still considered new and it’s long term effects are still unknown. My conclusion is sugar isn’t bad. Which sugar should you choose? Whichever you want to use. Just be mindful with how much you’re eating :) Hope this helps!

@@ShaineSmileyYes, but the problem is people are overconsuming sugar. In fact, the obesity and its mortality rate tripled in the US when the low-fat movements because ....guess what? the consumption of sugar consequently increase. Consumption of sugar increases insulin. Insulin is almost like a double-edged sword. Insulin resistance has been an emerging problem and it's associated with metabolic syndrome and obesity. Excessive release of insulin (esp in case of insulin resistance) is also well-established to promote weight gain. Yes, that includes sugar in fruit and natural sugars. so when you already consume too much sugar, the solution is not to 'add fruits'. because at the end of the day, it would further jeopardize ur susceptibility to insulin resistance Sugar IS the door to many disease, when not consumed in moderation

Can you do one which includes sodium. The broad bean item, it has Palm Oil. I thought palm oil is not good for you and bad for the environment.

I think for every individual the wants and requirements are different. Like some thin person requires more of sigar and fat and saturated and trans fat whereas as a diet or caucious person requires zero transfat and saturated fat. In any packaged items the worsts part is the saturated fat. In mosts low graded food these are actually not well maintained and written and if carefull check is done it will be clear enough.
