This was really an excellent interview! Vanessa is excellent at asking questions and engaging in a conversation that showed her knowledge in a very modest way while allowing Dr. Matsumoto to take the lead in sharing information. And Dr. Matsumoto was also so good! He seemed so interested from the very beginning, was very modest and kind, and showed complete respect for Vanessa! Amazing interview!! More people need to find this video!!

Great interview Vanessa, this was so interesting. Apparently I didn’t realize how fascinated I was by micro expressions...

Thank you, this interview was great and I'd love to watch more of this kind! A minor suggestion: it would be interesting in these to perform a little game with the interviewee to evaluate expressions in real time (e.g. a set of questions is made and the answers could be analyzed right after the recording, another person could be present just for this game).

My favorite shows that have gotten me into the frame of mind to try to read people, are an old show named Lie to Me that didn't last many seasons. The Mentalist, and Sherlock the modern series.

this video was great ........ *but* .... *but* one thing I observed about Dr. David was ...... ...... ...... ..... at (9:57) I observed ....a nose rub, backward leaning, swallowing saliva slowly, and a tight lip.... these events occurred. well on the other side, in the whole video the gestures were positive...... well, what these clusters suggest??? big fan of you *VAN VANESSA*

I did not fully understand the impact it can do to be a good observer in my surroundings until this video, to be honest. But I'm well aware I grew up with this sensibility since a young kid, and thus help me a lot being a team lead. Now I learned that I can actually still hone it better, I guess I'll see where it will bring me. I'll go check out his websites and hopefully grab his books too. Interesting and Great job as always Vanessa ;D

I’ve got some thoughts. Maybe the reason self help often does not work for very long for those of us who watch/read a lot of self help material is for a number of quite obscure reasons. One seems to be that the teachers are not of our tribe or the teachers really want to be alpha more than they want others to be successful and a lot of the work attitude is geared towards the teachers success. If this is the case then when we leave the group we find we haven’t actually learnt the techniques, we have just been going with the flow created by the teacher while we are part of the group. One very obscure reason I know I have that I don’t succeed with self help (and there are probably many more obscure reasons people have) is that I accidentally adopt the teachers feeling of success or of having the required knowledge and only have the feeling of having it and that fools me into thinking I’m finished. It’s a clumsy monkey see monkey do thing that does not work at all to improve my self. The other obscure problem I have is that I do not leave the group and think about applying what has been said, I just get caught up in the excitement of the group and it sort of fizzles out later without the seed taking root. Any tips on such self help matters Vanessa?
