Ugh. Theres just something about writing on books that doesnt sit right with me. I feel like while im doing it, im violating the sanctity of the book itself. Lol
@@HeroCodilla-tk7um it’s definitely more appealing to read a clean book that smells new, but used books are cheaper. And when you buy and read a used book, you can see what the previous reader might have underlined or wrote in the margins. It’s like another person has entered into your discussion with the author. Part of the appeal may be searching for ideas, fishing for thoughts, and looking for truth. So, writing in a book may be more useful for nonfiction or books of any genre that you do not anticipate reading over and over again. If you like the whole book equally, the only reason to underline any of it is to help you concentrate on the words and their collective meaning. But, if you feel like you are violating your book by writing in it, you should not write in it. It’s better not to feel like you’re violating anything, let alone a book. Thanks for your thoughts!
