It is recommended to us pc with Windows XP, I didn't have success to read code with 64bit laptop usig Win8.1 and WIN10.
YOU DON'T NEED TO REMOVE EEPROM FROM CIRCUIT BOARD.

Eeprom programmer scheme:

RCD300 uses 24c32 eeprom and if you doesn't have test clip like me you will need to solder minimum 4 wires on eeprom chip.
Eeprom test clip:

You will need to have 5v power supply.
I think best way to get power supply is to use id from pc usb.
Here is usb connector scheme:

Connect "+" wire to pin 8 and "-" to pin 7.
Then you will only need to connect two more wires to pins 5 and 6.
If eeprom is soldered to board you doesn't need to connect wires to 1,2,3,4 pins because that pins are connected to the ground and connected to programmer over pin 7.
Then you will need PonyProg2000

one for version with MP3 and code 0293
and other one for version with black buttons code 0121
both maed by Grundig
If you get ERROR STATUS 2 when using other dump, probably dump is not correct for your radio version. Best is to revert new one and use factory dump.

Thanks a lot pal! I bought an rcd300 for cheap for use in non vw car and unlocked it just like you said,it was way too easy. For the resistors and such circuits in general use potentiometers they come really handy.

You can use pony prog to read dump from specific eeproms. It will be much easier to read eeprom that way.

No. That's an example of how europeans write 4.7K, the K takes the place of the decimal point. I know, weird right?

@@KerbosYT It gets worse, 1R3 is written to be a resistor of 1.3 ohms which is not common enough to run across everyday, but you will see them in current monitoring situations. Again, I'm wondering what kind of dyslexic are theeese guys anyway? I also now see periods for commas in 47.000 (47K) resistors, there is something in the water. This is how that French rocket blew up.

I don't understand how you are interfacing the eeprom with the computer. Are you just soldering the 4 wires from a USB cable to pins 5,6,7, and 8 on the chip? Is there a special device or connector used? EDIT: after a bit of research, it appears you need a male DB9 connector. Which makes more sense considering they is a 9 pin device shown in the USB connector schematic. However my question remains; Could you show with photos or describe what you are using to physically connect the eeprom with the computer. Are you using a DB9 to USB connector?

Okay, I do not have a computer with a 9 pin serial port. Is there an adapter out there I can use, or should I borrow a computer that has the correct port built in? Thank you for your patience, I'm very new to this.

You can use some cheap ebay eeprom programmer with test clip like this www.revtronic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/pomona-8-pin-eeprom-soic-test-clip.jpg , there are some usb to serial port adapters but I don't know will they work in this case. I also have a struggle to find pc with serial port then to figure out what is wrong with him and install new windows :D
