Shane Willard is a great teacher. I’ve watched his videos multiple times and I’m still finding new things I misunderstood. Shane is right Christians better have an explanation or we’re going to lose a lot of people away from the Bible. I recommend watching more of his videos. He changed me on a lot of things.
I would be extremely hesitatant of drawing a conclusion that Domitian is The Beast of Revelation 13. A practice run of what is to come, perhaps, but neither he or Nero as some suggest fullfill the criteria of The Anti-Christ or first Beast in Revelation.
Why did Shane leave out Genesis and Exodus from 'the history section'. 'In the beginning God created'. 😮 Job is effectively a biography, in other words and historical account of what happened to Job eith very interesting philosophical questions from his friends. Many commentators veiw Job as a contemporary of Abraham.
Where do I begin with this comment? Shane Willard, you are a bible genius and I'd love to learn more from you. Here's the problem. The info you are sharing is too much at one time, and it comes at the listener like a machine gun - quite relentless. But here's the thing, you don't need to do that! You've been given so much wisdom about the bible! I'd love for you to SLOW DOWN, and simply teach. No theatrics needed. (I know it's popular now for Pastors to do the who theatrical delivery thing, but most of the time, those guys don't have much more than that to offer.) You are different. The revelation you carry within you is FAR better than any "performance" needed. If you would simply deliver the Truth, I'm convinced you would be one of the most sought after Bible teachers on the planet. But as is, I'd really need to read your information rather than hear it, because afterwards, my head is left spinning from information overload! I sincerely hope and pray that you change your delivery style (i.e. take long pauses, let people absorb what you just said, choose a story and follow through to the end of it, slow down,) because I KNOW that so many (including me) would benefit from your teachings, and the body of Christ truly NEEDS you! You are NOT boring, nor could you possibly ever be, with the info you have to share! I hope you receive this in the spirit in which I am giving it. I am for you! God bless you!
I agree. I absolutely love shane. His messages and information are truly life changing. I do find the theatrics and face pulling and hand signs a bit off putting at times and he talks very fast. But... if that is what it takes to hear what he says....its so worth it. His messages are truly life changing.
I think it’s actually quite clever the way he delivers it, because like he said, his goal was to leave us with more questions to answer at the end of this video than the amount we had coming in to the video and to be curious and to adventure through the bible looking for the answers to our questions. He purposely leaves us with so many cliff hangers that the listener goes home and tries to dig deep in their own time. That’s a huge win, and if this happens, he’s accomplished his goal. Yes he’s been given this knowledge, but I do find it clever the way he is using his knowledge and love and passion for the bible to spark something in the listener to be as eager and passionate about getting their own revelations or just learning from the bible themselves. Not only is he getting them passionate but he’s teaching them how to do it all the RIGHT WAY. So clever.
That’s because he has a time limit he needs to meet. Every church has that. He has a lot of great things to share in a short amount of time plus he needs to hold the audience’s attention which I assume would be the reasoning of his delivery style. I quiet like it because I actually find that unlike listening to other preachers, with him, my mind does not go wandering off to what’s for lunch or to my phone because the way he delivers the message actually has me on the edge of my seat. Also he does have resources and a website as someone has already pointed out so you can greatly benefit from that by slowing it down and replaying it as much as you want in order to better understand him. Bless 🙂 xx
While I thoroughly enjoyed the 1st video on How to read the bible and think Mr. Willard is a very interesting and knowledgeable speaker, I had to stop watching the second part due to his loud and forceful way of speaking. I hung in there half way hoping he would revert to a quieter, calmer voice. There is so much to learn - but louder does not improve absorption. I believe people would learn more and absorb more if he used a less frantic delivery style. I believe he is demeaning his knowledge by trying to follow the current evangelical style. While I am not a member of this church, I am interested in finding more truth and honesty in the bible. The first video explained a lot -- the second was just repetitive noise. However I am not giving up but will look at the other videos from Hope church on reading the bible. Mr. Willard - I do thank you for your effort but you can do much, much better than that.
