To anyone starting this series, pick a spot that you rarely use to read these books. Trust me there will be emotions from this incredible story, and once you’re done you will want to relive the joy, the heartbreak, and the friendships. I did this and I go to the spot where I read the series and it automatically makes me so much happier.
You're right about reading Assassin's Blade in between Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows because it's a great transition. I honestly want to thank you for guiding me throughout this series. I would read Tower of Dawn before Empire of Storms because Idk if I could tandemly read them. Thanks so much Aviva! ♥️
About to start the series today and I’m so grateful for this video! I’m going to go with the second option and see where that takes me! Hopefully the series will pull me in like so many others ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I haven’t started this series yet, but my wife bought me throne of glass, and I can’t wait to start reading once I’m done with the ACOTAR series. And props to your amazing followers and the comment section for sparking my interest even more,
OMG! You read my mind! I was just thinking of giving another chance to TOG series and I was searching for the correct reading order. Thank you so much 🙏😍❤
I’m about to watch the series for the first time through recommendation and I’ve been told that chronological order was a bit iffy but still excellent. But I want the full suite of emotions and this video has been a huge help. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge on this will definitely be following your advice! Wish me luck!!
So I was going to do the publication order but you've convinced me to at the very least switch those two books u talked about because what you're saying makes sense. I think I'm going to start with assassin's blade tho after reading some comments from others in a book group I'm a part of. I'm starting right now so we'll see how I like it 👍 I will take notes I think tho so that I'll better remember when I get to heir of fire 👍🙂 can't wait you see what all the hype is about!
I think assassins blade first is a very fair way to go about it! A lot of people swear by starting there first so I hope you enjoy!! Good movie though on listening to me for the later books… I don’t think you will regret that decision ❤️
I am going back to this series as I had read Assassins Blade and then Throne of Glass back in 2018 because TOG is the only book that own. So now I am just going to continue reading with Crown of Midnight. Unless you think that I should just restart the whole series with TOG ? I do like how you explain why Assassins Blade fits after Heir of Fire especially if one isn’t too much into the romance and love triangle. I will read Tower of Dawn first and then Empire of Storm just as you suggest. I don’t care about the romance and I mostly just like the action stuff. 😊
Im really sorry to bother you with commenting on an older video but would you mind maybe doing some recomendations for people like me who absolutely love medieval fantasy books just like throne of glass but cant seem to find any? (this is hands down my absolute favourite book series of all time) P.S. sorry for my spelling Im not from an english speaking country
crown of midnight was a constant (and unnecessary) back and forth for me. i feel like the story could have been told better if moments of importance lasted longer and had more of an impact that could be really felt by the reader. the dark events in the book and celaena's reaction to them felt very foreign to me, i couldn't really get behind celaena's inner workings. crown of midnight just showed how much the main character is hiding from the reader and thus i feel very detached from celaena. so i kinda get that it might be hard to get through the book. i just finished it 20 minutes ago and hope that the series picks up a bit
Your video was really helpful when I first started the series, and I totally agree with you about reading The Assassin's Blade after Heir of Fire. Do you have a recommended reading order for all of Sarah J. Maas' books?
I respect your opinion but absolutely disagree with the fad of switching up the reading order. The author is obviously an expert at her own books and published them in a specific way. I just personally think the author knows best. Having read the books, the publication order makes more sense than any other alternative. Why wouldn’t it make sense to introduce you to the main character and her background first? Anyway, just my opinion
The order of these books gets me so confused, because when I google their publication order, it’s 1.TOG 2. COM 3.TAB but it’s recomeded to read it TAB, TOG, COM. But in this video she says another order 😂
I'm reading this series for the first time and following your order recs and loving it! I recently finished Heir of Fire/started the Assassin's Blade and I'm glad I'm reading them in this order. Thanks! :)
Lol I just finished Empire of storms, and WISHED I read Tower of Dawn first or in tandem them. So I want to read kingdom of ash desperately, but I’m sitting on the cliff hanger, for 600 more pages. I do love reading the prequel first, it gives Celeana so much depth and adds a lot to Throne of glass, knowing what she’s endured.
Reading for the 1st time and must say that the tandem reading works very well with the books. They compliment each other very nicely and it is almost like reading 1 book.
Thank you ! I read Throne of Glass almost over a year ago ….for some reason I have a hard time reading series in a full run. I have to change up my reading, from book to book… I do Fantasy, than go to Bully …Mafia …sports genre etc.. I get easily bored …I will get into Crown of Midnight …I just hope I didn’t forget too much from the first one. Thanks again this helps me tremendously. Cheers.
I just freshly finished Queen of Shadows (I’m reading in order of your recommendation) and I thought Heir of Fire and The Assassins Blade had me shook…. I think need some time to process that rollercoaster before I head into the next three books 😅 I love this series SO MUCH. Thank you for putting TOG on my radar so I could frantically collect them all before the old covers went out of print 🙏
I just finished book 3 and am now going back to assassins blade. It does kinda suck having to stop after heir of fire and go back because I’m so invested in the story already. I also feel like I did miss a good chunk of references in the first 3 books by skipping assassins blade. Everyone seems to like this order though so I am excited to feel it out for my first time reading the series. Maybe this order is best if it’s your second time reading? Idk but thank you for the helpful vid!
i've only read the series once and did the tandem read it took me a long time but i really enjoyed it ! i think reading tod first makes sense too bc it's little bit slower and when i had to put down eos to read tod i was sad haha
Thank you so much for this! I 'm looking forward to read this series and i'm gonna try it with the second option moving Assasin's blade to the middle 😀
i like your order, but i think Assassin's Blade after Empire of Storms but before Tower of Dawn where you are given the details about why Empire ends the way it does which feels super rewarding to get that backstory
Oh and plus the healer story between Empire and Tower makes things just crazy, but I can also see Tower, then Empire, then Blade to get the character backstories of EVERYONE
lmao I was trying to figure out how to start this series, but I was confused with The Assassins Blade nad Throne of Glass, so I'm going to trust you and read it in the order you suggested! 😇
I never knew about the assassin's blade because I read it in my native language I just finished the third one and I couldn't continue because it wasn't translated
Without spoiling too much but there will be a bit of spoilers so I’ll drop them down a ways . . . . . . . . . I don’t know why but as soon as Manon and the 13 was introduced I was rooting for them to join the good side. Like I said I don’t want to spoil too much but when they did I remember saying “hell yeah”…… out loud at work (I was listening to the audio book version read by Elizabeth Evans).
Just finished crown of midnight and wanted to know what would be best to continue reading 😊 the series was recommended to me by a friend so im glad that im enjoying it so far!
I’ve just finished queen of shadows, but haven’t read assassins blade or tower of dawn, do you think I should leave assassins blade until the end and keep going with tower of dawn then the rest of the series? Help!
Thank you for your excellent advice on this which I followed. I did read Assassin’s Blade 4th and I did tandem read of Empire of Storms & Tower of Dawn! Just the last book left. Wow I really understand why people love this series (I think it’s her best series out of all her books).
I absolutely regret reading Assassins Blade after Heir of Fire. These books are so slow but so much happens in Heir of Fire and I feel like at this point in the story it really slows things down to a point that I can not even enjoy it. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend reading it in this order. I wish i had read it first or 3rd but definitely not 4th.
I just started Throne of Glass, and over halfway done. I was wondering which one I should read next. Since I didn't start with Assassin's Blade I'm going to commit to your order.
I jus started reading the tog .. An after finding out AB hav different Lil story's I desired to read each part of AB after each books to get a better understanding
