Many thanks Wolfie - just what I was looking for. I've found 3 other videos on this job, all involve taking the body off or drilling holes in it, removing the drive units fans/pulleys etc - which just looked like a nonsense to me. So you just take the belt shield off! That makes more sense! Anyway, I'll be doing the job tomorrow, so I'll see how I go - I'm feeling a great deal more confident now after watching this and pulling the deck off it for a quick look see tonight.
Good job man. I watched a couple videos where they talk about disassembling half the machine to replace that belt. I love how they start out their video with "this is my first time...". Then continue to send others down the wrong path. Me, I am going to disassemble half my machine anyway, because I have some rust to deal with. But that's a different story.
Zeros are very similar. They don't make it easy. That is for sure. Good luck. Not sure if my video helped you out or not, but if it did, please subscribe. I have more videos to come.
OK, I take (some) of it back! On some, mine included, the belt guard is attached by bolts underneath the drive fans/pulleys! So there really doesn't seem to be any alternative but to lift the body to get a windy gun in there and remove them. (You might get a spanner in to undo the guard bolts, but you'd be working blind and it would be even worse trying to get them back in again. I didn't fancy it) The parts diagram I looked at did show this arrangement in fact. Not hard to do, I think I counted 11 bolts to remove and I could then lift the main body plastic 8 inches or so at the back, which seems plenty, and I didn't have to disconnect anything but the body and seat. The rest of it seems identical, so this is still a good video to watch beforehand. Mines an i1050 by the way, looks much like yours, I don't know the year I'm afraid.
