My Yamaha was not activating the 4x4, after watching this video I purchased the motor servo and replaced the old one. Problem fixed at a low cost of $70 next day shipping. Glad a came across this video and seller. Great job
I watched your video on RU-vid about changing out actuator motors and it helped me find that the motor and the actuator was fine, did some look on front of the quad where all the wires connect and found three of the wires chewed off. Thanks for the good video on the actuator.
Good Video, but honestly put down the 18V IMPACT driver to re-install screws.... Great way to strip screws / break the housing. Get a 12V driver (not impact)
Thanks for your quick response. Will try and remove it this week. Also, do you have to replace the switch if the lights showing 4wd engagement doesn't work?
Very informative video. You just drop in the new motor.., does it rotate in the right direction, considering + and - pole? Thanks for the upload. Sincerely
Hello, the problem with my Kodiak 450 is that it does not activate the differential lock. The 4x4 is always connected, but when the differential lock is activated it keeps flashing and does not lock. What tests should I do to determine the fault I may have? could it be the servomotor? Could it be a relay? The lock button itself? Thank you so much.
It could be all or one of the things you mentioned. You would start by checking the servo, then the relays, then the switch, then the wiring, then lastly the CDI box. That is all of the components of the system. We have a troubleshooting page to help here. 501parts.com/pages/troubleshooting
Glad to help! You can see the products tagged in the Video description or you can find them on our website here at this link. 501parts.com/collections/yamaha-servo-replacement-motors
You don’t want to add a bigger fuse like that, as you will take the chance of burning something else up on down the line, probably a wire or a relay. You have a small short somewhere in the wiring, harness, or something along those lines that would cause the fuse to blow.
What would cause the 3B4 gear to lock up after it’s timed correctly? The servo motor works great bench testing with 3 volts, once installed it will engage but will not disengage 4wd, as mentioned the servo gear will be stuck until dissembled
Could be a number of things causing the servo to not disengage. Relays, switch, or wiring usually in that order. See our other videos to test the relays and the switch.
Not a big deal, see this video here on how to retime the 3b4 servo. Thank you for your business, let us know if we can help you further. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IlXKTR46sSg.html
Hi, My actuator is similar to the 1st model you rebuilt but with a inseparable gear box (no bolts/bolt circle to pull gear housing apart). Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Thanks
My actuator was inconsistently working also, then finally stopped in the on position. Watched your video for more info, but determined problem elsewhere. Was able to fix my issue (follow me for my own instructional video;) Thanks though for your great instructional video.
