I do. What are your thoughts on sending the kick on a shorter arc with a delayed hip turn hiding the angle under punches or just to mask the target in general?

Hello Friend! Iam sorry to correct you a little bit here. The way you described how Buakaw and Yodsaenklai kick is not the same as you shows in this video, they never turn the hip in a circular way. They kick in 45 degre angle and if needed they turn more hip. The way you shows is very slow and not most of the thais kicks in that way. Its more of westernize teaching way of muay thai roundhouse kick. Correct me if iam wrong. Not to disrespect you or to be asshole ;), just for learning porpose.

We recently went over this similar technique in our MT class. Round and switch kicks but you have to go to a check before you put your foot down. So important, and such a good drill to learn where you dont have balance at. Once fatigue sets in we all got wobbly.

I like that you sometimes do unedited videos. They show that despite being a high level athlete, you are human and you make mistakes too. It's makes you more relatable and also reminds me to not be too hard on myself and to slow down when needed. My martial arts training has been on and off. I have allowed the current situation of the world to make me lazy and I have gained some weight. I have started training again this week and my body is kind of stiff, although I am taking a slow pace and I can already feel my fitness coming back to me. So thanks for all the good, informative and inspirational content. You have my support and gratitude. OSU!!🥋

My first trainers told us to rechamber like rewinding the kick in same motion back again but my first European kru told me to just drop the leg down similar to what you teach here and it makes you save a lot of energy anyways to make many kicks fast after each other i found that it's best to let the leg bounce back a little before finding the shortest way to the ground and let the ball of your foot connect with the floor like your leg is a spring coil..

Been watching you since before I started even taking muay thai. Thank you for the vids and supporting me on my journey. I'd love to see more advanced vids, especially working in combinations with head movement and footwork(pivots) to set up kicks. Any tips on how to be able to effectively teep without getting your foot drenched in sweat and making you slip? I have a decent rear and lead teep, but I seldom use it because my foot would get covered in sweat and I'll end up slipping as soon as I bring my foot back.

Thank you once again! Could you please go through some dynamic and static stretches to get your kicks more mobile / flexible? I’ve been practicing everyday my stretches but coming from a Powerlfiting background my hips and glutes are so stiff and now going to Muay Thai I’d love more legs flexibility! Thanks

Cool stuff. I do this with front leg round kicks, because of Tang Soo Do, but I've never thought of doing it for rear leg. We rechamber the rear leg back into round kick position, as opposed to putting the foot down, in order to immediately throw a second round kick. Kind of like throwing a body hook followed by a head hook with the same hand.

I forgot where i saw this but they would pull their leg back like you showed but mid chamber would throw a front kick to the opponents thigh or body to push them back after chambering the round kick. It feels nice.

Kyokushin kicks by rechambering and they can have both power and speed at the same time. It’s a hybrid of snapping and following through the kick.

Hey, Gabe. Can you do an episode on how you roll to the left after a one-two? I find it very easy to roll to the right since my weight is on the left foot and I just step with my right foot to the right to cut an angle. But I find it very awkward to do the same to the left after I throw a cross, and obviously we don't always want to roll to the same side. :) I know there is kind of a skipping technique where you replace the left foot with the right and kinda hop to the left, and I do that but it doesn't feel natural. If you could do an episode on that, it would be most excellent. Thank you so much for such great content! Cheers.

I figure if my kick gets caught, I'll just put weight on that leg and push through. It's so much easier when you push through from the squared hip
@Condeycon

Would you extend this attitude towards the teep as well? At one gym I used to train at they taught us to pull our teep back into an almost rechambered knee before dropping it as opposed to just letting the foot down in more of an arc. They argued that pulling it back made it less easy to grab and hold onto. I personally found it kinda awkward and slow to do so I abandoned that technique when I stopped training at that gym.
@jaketheasianguy3307

Rechamber a kick is like fundemental for kicking. If you don't rechamber, your leg will be grab, not might be. Besides, rechamber also help you transition to another kick faster like Bill Wallace style
