Thank you so much! I am a 72 year old female and your instructions were so clear that I was able to recharge my AC completely by myself!😀. You saved me a bunch of $$ and boosted my confidence at the same time.
This was a great video and thanks for the tip. I have an 87 BMW 528e where I do get air that blows out but it is not cold but just a bit cooler than the warm air. I will give it a shot and replicate your steps and see if I get lucky.
Hi. Thanks for sharing. does it need to be synthetic? I have a bow 1x 2013 and it's blowing hot air. I found the can online, im in canada, but they dont say synthetic.
You don't want to tilt the can upside down or sideways. You only want gas going into the suction side of the compressor. When you tilt the can sideways or upside down you have the potential to introduce liquid refrigerant into the system which can damage the compressor. Fortunately, you only did it briefly in the video. Don't rush it, just let the gas flow. You can speed it up a little by putting your hand around the bottom of the can to warm it up which will push the gas out faster. Also, you need to be measuring outside ambient air temperature in front of the grill to get a better idea of what suction pressure you need. If the gauge doesn't have a dial for the outside temperature, then look up the R-134a low side pressure vs. temperature chart. You also should be monitoring the air temperature in the center vent to see your progress. Most BMWs shut down the compressor when evaporator outlet temperature reaches 36F to keep from freezing the coil, so don't keep adding refrigerant if you hit that temperature at the vent or you could over charge the system. I tend to error on the conservative side to avoid over charging and stop adding refrigerant if I see less than 40F at the vent. You can always add a little more later if you need to.
