Good info and I used to build boats in Florida and your right acetone is the best. It's what we used to keep all our tools clean. Just harder to get here in Kentucky. I know Lowe's has some. But I was already in middle of doing them. So I just used rubbing Alcohol. But you are correct. Acetone is some strong stuff. Wish I did have some. But they done now. Maybe next time. I have 2 more 15s and 2 10s and a 18 that all need recone. Thank you for your help 👊😎💯💨💨

It defiantly won't do any of those things. Won't affect the powder coat on the frames and won't do much to break down the glue used.

What you want to do next time is an angle grinder with an 80 grit flapper disk. It will make short work of what's left on there. I build for a living and it's by fat the best way to do it. Once you have it ground down to metal hit it with an air hose them whipe the landings down with isopropyl alcohol and you are good to go

@Ray Pereira Acetone will break down the powder coating right off the basket if left on long enough and will break down ca glue fairly easy and especially the apoxy glue he used last time. Granted, grinding it off is faster, less lose of material on the baskets using a solvent. EDIT: acetone will damage the shine pretty fast as well and make it a dull smear when wiped off.

@@raypereira4244 That's how I do it. The Dremmel had 80 grit head I used went through 4 of them. I know there is better grinder but I just used what I had to get it done. But thats exactly how I do it👍😎

It's a Sundown ZV3 18 needs recone. I'd sell it as it is. Or I'd recone it for more 👍😎💯

First find out if they sell recones for them. Then see if the recone's cost as much as new sub or if worth it. Some subs just better to buy new ones. I have bunch of American Bass Xfls I need to recone. But not sure it's worth it. Unless I was to upgrade everything. But yeah see if they have them then get back to
