Tried to connect my system to new router wifi with an ethernet cord… it worked u til i u plugged the cord and it went nack to not recognizing the system, what am i doing wrong? I did step by step.
Sonos has to be hands down, the most ridiculously and unnecessarily difficult speaker to set up. I've come across several different instructions on how to do this. Sort it out lads. It doesn't need to be such a pain.
It’s so terrible don’t buy them they fall off the network alll the time and they are flat out a** to get back connected….. pleas don’t buys these trust me.
i am having the same issue! My playbar is not connecting to the new network and I cannot reach the router ethernet cable to the sonos device like how he described..
Who creates a speaker that can't connect to bluetooth? What if you want to take it to your friends house to play music? What if you move? What kind of engineers didn't think of this simple design flaw?
Yes I will go ahead and disconnect 12 wall mounted devices because I changed my router. That’s not annoying at all!! I had Alexa, ring cameras, nest thermostat, hue Phillips, PlayStation, even my Romba reconnect wirelessly to the new router with zero issues.
Exactly this, and so my Sonos is now a dated irrelevant piece of junk that I won’t bother with, as I want to be able to jump my Sonos back and forth between my home and work WiFi.
You guys! I found the solution. If you have a Sonos One SL all you have to do is: 1. Unplug the speaker 2. Hold down the infinity button in the back before you plug it back into the wall and don’t let go! 3. It will blink white but you must still be holding down the infinity button until it blinks orange. 4. Once it’s blinking orange, you let go of the button. It will then blink green. 5. Boom! It’s now reseted to factory settings and ready to connect to a new wifi. Mind you, I connected my speaker to my new wifi using the Ethernet cord. Hope it works for those who don’t have an Ethernet cord!
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I was just about to switch back to my old wifi carrier due to not being able to reconnect my Sonos System. After watching your video, my Sonos is now connected. THANKS!!
THANK YOU! This information exists nowhere on the website or in Sonos Support. In fact, the information on the Sonos site is completely incorrect. It's insanity.
If you hold the play and volume up buttons as you plug in the sonos, it will reset after a few seconds and allow you to connect to a new network. Hope this helps
Just bought a house with a sonos system installed. It was working for the previous owners but after spending hours trying to get it running again including calls to sonos and paying a tech I’m giving up. Thanks sonos for creating an incredible complex user unfriendly POS. P.S. the reset, Ethernet cable etc where all a wast of time. Sonos cannot detect the network even when it’s connected to the router
Thank you man ! This was a great correct explanation. I had 5 Sonos speakers, and none of them were working after a setup a a mesh wifi network. After following your instructions, everything is working fine just like before. Many many thanks and keep up the good work !!!
It seems that Sonos expects that we all live in the same place, with the same wifi forever - not many people do, and even then it's likely that routers etc will be upgraded .... so PLEASE make it easer to update this from the app. I gave up after many hours of following online help, and did a Factory Reset. It's all working fine now, but that was a lot of time ... and I'm above-average IT literate.
I am 75 years old, LOVE my Sonos Beam. Recently downsized form our large house to a coop and upon getting a new WIFI address am unable to configure my Sonos Beam. I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do. Tried connecting directly to router and it appears I am doing this incorrectly. SONOS please you are a terrific company please make this easier. I was able to reestablish my Boston Acoustics and Bose sound systems with no difficulty. My Beam simply does not reestablish to new WIFI settings,
Such a pain. What did it for me was deleting the app and re-installing. There, I was given the chance to add the Amp back onto my Wifi and do a fresh install. Really don't like the idea that I need internet / wifi to play records
Also worth mentioning: the router firewall settings cause the app to not pick up the Sonos WIFI during setup. I had an Optimum router. Replaced it, and connected without any issues
What worked best for me was to restart my stereos down to factory settings (unplug the power for 10 sec and hold down the pause button). That allowed me to connect wirelessly. Frustrating that I couldn't just change it with a click in the app.
Why cant i connect the speaker to my phone then connect it to the wifi from there?? My $15 smart plugs are capable of doing that. New apartment and wifi comes with apartment and the wall ports apparently arent sufficient so now i have expensive paper weights
Important missing step: Disable the old network, if you're running both networks. I've upgraded my network and am slowly moving things off the old network prior to it being disconnected. With both networks available, Sonos seems to always seek out the original and won't see the new one. Disabling the old network makes the wired speaker discoverable.
I’ve been trying to connect my Galaxy A6 to 3 Sonos Play speakers for almost 3 months now. Works for 5 mins then cuts out. I’ve even had the speakers all connected by Ethernet cable and no sonos won’t show up on the Galaxy!!! I’ve just wasted €500-€700!!!! No music! I wish I didn’t buy them now.
I'm following the steps as directed, however I'm having a problem with the app settings. I lost the settings page. So I had to upload the app again. It ask whether I want to setup a new or existing product, either way I'm having issues. It keeps saying no device/speaker found. What am I doing wrong with the app so I could getting to the advanced settings options. Please advise. Thanks for anyone help. Anthony
Sonos, I have upgraded my wifi and you are telling me I need to retrieve every speaker, plug it into my network and reset up the wifi, then replace them in original location. Sounds easy. Do you have any idea how long that is going to take me for each speaker in my house! For the love of god, you created the best wifi speaker on the market, I can have my friends playing their newly discovered music on my system in under 3 minutes, etc… But I need to go through all that after upgrading my wifi!! Omg. Just lazy guys. You should fix this with software! This is my only complaint with Sonos. Is still awesome, but it will take me at least 2 hours to accomplish today.
WHY IS SONOS NOT USER FRIENDLY?! My husband has been trying to connect our speakers for the past 2 hours with help of customer service. This is ridiculous!!!
I have the Sonos move and the IKEA Sonos picture frames. Neither are showing up on my new network. The Sonos move doesn’t have an ethernet port to connect to the router. It’s all wireless. How do I make the new network?
I bought this a few years ago and it has been a total pain. Every time I go to play It takes me an hour to go through the set up process again even though I have changed nothing! Great sound but I wish I never bought it.
Guys, if you have the money, go for a Bowers and Wilkins hi-fi setup, or monitor audio, all you really need from Sonos is their connect amp as it can use streaming services. Sonos is unreliable. A wired connection is always stronger and will always supersede a wireless connection!
Best way I found reset your products my case sub and two speakers to factory setting easy unplug hold button in flashes red go on the app reconnect from start took 10 mins I got a new router what a hassle trying other way
Also had issues. Tried hard resetting the router, but it still required an ethernet cable to setup wifi connection again. Finally reinstalled the app and did the whole setup process from scratch and this worked. Cumbersome work for the simple mistake of changing router...
You don't address what to do if: 1. Network is in a standard setup but I want to put it back into Boost mode and my Boost isn't recognized by the app. The Boost has been previously configured. The S1 app can't find the Boost; I've tried rebooting router and Boost (connected to router), resetting Boost, and every troubleshooting step I can locate online and all have failed.
I have a 3 channel router and an extender, with a Sonos 1 ,3 and 5 and 3 Connects the systems get convoluted and don't show up together. Is there something you could recommend me doing?
what i found to work was completely disconnecting all of your sonos devices by returning to factory setting. then i all connected it again and it worked perfectly. it may be a bit annoying, but it's well worth it.
I recently got a new Sonos move, and want to add it to my existing system, but I don't see the product on the Sonos app where I set up my other speakers. I followed the initial trouble shooting steps- unplug and replug, make sure Sonos move is on charging cradle etc, but nothing is working. Help please? 😊
I did the trick were you hold down the volume up button as you plug the power cord into the wall, this apparently resets the system and then you can start over and easily put in the password to your wifi network. nothing else came close to working for me. It was very frustrating up until that discovery....
Setting up a Gen 1 Play 5 and Gen 1 bridge i impossible!!!! I have factory reset all Sonos components but I have no way of adding a bridge to my system. The app just responds with must be connected with ethernet cable (and yes this is present) when I press the button on the bridge. This is so frustrating!!!!!!!
It's a speaker.... just keep it bluetooth I struggled to connect mine for hours and it never worked..... returned it and I will never own a sonos product again. Worst experience with a speaker I've ever had. I DIDNT EVEN GET TO PLAY MY MUSIC!
Finally change from BT to new provider. Had Sonos for years thne i found this problem. First solution plug a network cable into the playbar. This found everything on the sonos network. Sub and Play1 upstairs. Works great. But as the video says wireless needs to be setup. However this video is 5 years old and Advanced settings etc doesn't exist in the new app S2. So i think the only way to do that is to reset the entire system. Not going to do that myself as cable works fine.
So now I have to find an ethernet cable? I can't believe the app does not allow me to just pick another wifi network (like I can for so many other bluetooth devices).
I go through this aggravation EVERY time I move. Phoning support ends up not being much help as they know more about selling the product than how it actually works. When they're good they're very very good but when they're bad they're horrid. Wouldn't buy them again and definitely can't recommend them.
I'm going through the setup steps because of a new router. I enter the router password(which is correct) and it tells me its incorrect. It works for every other device but not my sonos. What to do?
@@kingshrewd79 Haven't tried yet however, in theory, it should be fine. Besides, I don't have a huge playlist or anything in my Sonos app yet so I've got nothing much to lose by resetting.
@@praxiprax6804 took the plunge earlier and it worked ok. Unfortunately you just lose things like stored radio stations, recently played etc. Worth it though as its on the new mesh system now.
My sonos app looks different than yours. I don’t have a way to click settings then advance setting. My living room play at stopped working because we changed wifi name.
Bro can you help I lose connection to my wifi then when o try to connect again they say is wrong password for the wifi I never change the password of the wifi hope you can help me thanks a lot
My playbase will connect only when directly wired. I’ve gone through wireless setup, and it keeps saying Wrong Password! (It was previously on a different network.)
