This is really helpful. I have my students watch it before recording voiceovers. 2 things you might add are: 1. Saving the project in .aup format so you can come back and edit your recording. 2. Possibly pointing out any key differences between PC and Mac interface. Other than that, great tutorial. Thanks!

Thanks for an educated, knowledgable, adult take on how to use Audacity to record audio. Nice, quick & clear run through on the basics; perfect for a non-tech savvy analog dork like me. Great video, very informative. Would like to point out in the beginning of the video about you talk about setting up what you are going to record from, that clicking on Audacity top left for preference's/devices only works with Mac computer's.

Great thank you one correction when you recorded mono it comes out of both speakers it's just the same thing comes out of both speakers as opposed to stereo when you have different sounds on the left and different sounds on the right

I'd like to make a correction on the stereo thing because I was dealing with this. IF you record in stereo using an audio interface like a 2i2 or an M-Track 2x2M which I have, and only use one mic, left or right, you will only get audio on that channel in the stereo output. If you record in mono, then the stereo output will carry the audio onto both channels. From what I've found, this only applies if you're using a true stereo audio interface. When you use the internal mic on your laptop or webcam, your stereo recording will appear on both channels of the input so it will be heard on both channels of the output. I can tell you that for straight audio like for a podcast, recording in mono through an interface with a balanced (meaning left or right) condenser mic is far superior to any internal mic recording in stereo.

Kudo's that you have your opening sound/effects and your audio voice relatively close in amplitude. Too many folks have some loud blasting intro effects I have to turn down, and then have to turn up the volume to hear their voice.
