- Quick moshing to myself saying the word "Backtrack"
- Me actually wearing color (yes my wife picked it out)
Please do Enjoy, if you like this then you'll love my full top to bottom recording course.

Loving This!! Just had the opportunity to record a great sax player. Wish I used a ribbon on the direct mic, but I think I nailed it anyways... Can't wait to mix! Thank you, Thank you!!

Pretty sick seeing the Be Lix Max session on your computer. They're such a fun band to see/play with. Thanks for this video, punk and ska production is such an under-represented genre on RU-vid.

That doubler plugin only really works if the horns are in unison/octaves (like the clip you showcased it on). If there are harmonies in the horns, they may get muddied up by doubling them 8vb. The horn arranger voices the chords how they best sound on each horn and in the section, and he/she won't be too pleased with the doubling in that case.

Great Video. When you record the Horn sections: Trumpet, Trombone and Saxophone. Do you keep them all in the same musical range. or do they have to be done, one in normal key, and the other two in higher octives? Thanks alot.

But, I don't know what I'm doing! Please do a very basic video which includes all equipment. I just want a realistic sounding recording of myself playing my trumpet in my bedroom without spending a fortune on equipment and alot of mixing time. Any help is very appreciated. I've already purchased several mics and gotten very poor results. Thousand dollar plus mics are not feasible for me.

i play trombone. why not like a SM57? That's a dynamic mic

There's a weird burst of static noise whenever you jump cut. I would look into that, might be some kind of noise reduction, I'm not sure

@Skiroy

Do you get a better sound tracking all at the same time because the bleed gives a bigger effect? Is is not recommended to track each horn separate?
@JayMaasRecording
@JayMaasRecording 2 года назад
You could totally do the one by one I just sort of like the room effect of multiple horns at once, it’s also faster. If even 75% of the time the performers are well rehearsed, and you get some independent micing on them you can do a little pitch correction if necessary and move much quicker. Also I think there’s something to the gel in the vibe of having multiple performers in a room performing at the same time.

Dude!..just angle the mic in front of the kickdrum and you´re good to go...maybe a 30 degree angle should work. I do this all the time

The horns are barely discernible and are indistinguishable from the rhythm instruments in the mix. This does not reflect the musical function of horns.
