Roland Go Mixer is a game changer. I use it along with my Katana Go and now my videos sound like I have some crazy rig. It’s a dramatic difference vs just letting my iPhone record myself with my amp on the ground.
This is Brilliant and by far the Most Informative Tutorial. I have watched many, but they are short and often leave you confused. Here you are awestruck and inspired by the endless possibilities. Nashville here we come! Thank you for this incredible demonstration. ❤
I use a variation of the last option. What I do is play the guitar into my DAW where I can add effects etc. I also have other tracks playing to play along with. The guitar is connected to my Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface, and the mix is monitored on headphones. From the RCA outputs on the interface I connect to an iRig Stream that is connected to my phone. This allows me to record video with the audio from the DAW so there is no need to sync it. As long as I record the guitar at the same time in the DAW I can make changes and then use the sync method to swap the sound over. Works great, and is really flexible. If you use Filmic Pro or another camera app on the phone you can also get better audio as you can set the recording levels. This avoids quiet parts getting amplified by the auto gain systems in stock camera apps on the phone.
@@DannyGuitar12 do you know what a DAW is? Not trying to be rude, seriously, but if you did it would answer your question. DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, and it’s inside this program that effects can be added to your signal before you even hit record. Or….. You can get one of the countless all in one guitar effects pedals that have speaker outs. Like the BOSS GT series, Headrush, Line 6 Helix…. I personally use the Fractal FM3. You build the tone and effects you want and then just hit record and jam!
@@DannyGuitar12 yea bro just look for a guitar effects vst on your computer that’s compatible with you software and you have a wide variety of effects and sounds connecting straight to your guitar from your computer
I also use a scarlett solo direct into my Mac mini where I used neural dsp. Haven’t quite worked out how I get the audio from this into my iPhone.. is it possible with the Scarlett?
Great stuff! I use the Fender Mustang micro. You can bluetooth in the backing track from an Ipad or extra phone, and then plug it directly into the recording phone and capture all of the sound at the same time. Pretty awesome. 120 USD for the Micro, about 12 USD for the USB-to-Lightening converter.
this guy does the absolute best how to videos on RU-vid,this one helped me find the mixer Pro X and how to use it correctly, and his looper pedal 101 video stopped my brain from having a meltdown..awesome work dude
Recording straight to an Android phone is the way I go and it has been serving my limited purpose really well. There's a certain clarity to it as compared to using an audio interface, DAW etc and gives you a pretty true representation of where you're at.
Dear Sam, You’re a God send ❤❤ The video is so beautifully put in terms of how recording can be done with basic gear, intermediate gear and then using audio interfaces to record great quality music. Bravo and hats off to you. Thank you so much..❤
Thanks for putting out this video, so well done! I have searched a lot for this information and could not find anything in RU-vid. I didnt want the hassle of recording Audio and Video in separate devices and you just perfectly explained how to do it by just using our phones 💯
I came to find some suggestions and feel like I was given the best of both worlds. A great talented guitar player and quality content creator! Really enjoyed this thanks a ton!
I used to use a 2i2 with my iPad air 2. I had to run a camera adapter and a powered usb hub, but it worked perfectly. I recorded lots of preproduction band practices like that. even works for live streams.
such a great video, really appreciate the effort put into it. I've been playing guitar for years but just now deciding to actually record something for the internet so this is perfect for me.
This enables RU-vidrs to upload better videos of music gear that aren't always playing metal and blues...bring back a diversity of genres for gear tests! Ty for making this video.
Fabulous video! Very informative clear and consice, thank you for taking the time to put this together. You certainly answered a lot of my questions to help me get started.
Wow!! you covered every aspect of recording using a phone. I can stop searching now after seeing your video. jCongrats!! You nailed it. since I don t have much privacy where my equipment is located in the home I will have to resort to recording direct using logic Pro and the video using the phone.. The main challenge will be to sync the audio and video.. Ill give it a try.. congrats!!
Some interesting options for sure which I didn't even know existed, especially the Roland interface. I often feel like recording short clips for instagram or whatever, but with my current setup it just takes too many steps. Cable mess, messing with audio settings and Reaper to get levels right or to even get a signal. Either I can't be bothered to even begin, or I lose motivation to play by the time I get everything set up. And then having to edit everything in video software (which usually isn't cheap) is just too much. Seems ideal to be able to do everything on my phone and get ideas out there fast.
Definitely very helpful Video. I've been playing since 2008, and I work as a stagehand with multiple production companies and for IATSE local union 835 & 631 (IATSE stands for: International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) of Central Florida.... I've been looking for a video like this for a while now. I do have a Zoom H4n Pro portable handheld digital audio recorder, but I haven't used it since 2009-2010 😅🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ .... I do use a Line 6 75 Watt Spider 4 amplifier(I believe it's the 4 🧐🤨🤦🏻♂️😩😅).... but I love videos like this.. so keep 'em coming my friend 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😤
I’ve recorded two videos with the Roland GoMixer using RU-vid as a backing track, solid platform. Moving on to a Focusrite 2i2 and Ableton with iPhone for video, appreciate the information in your video!
Wow, this was an impressive video. I judge presentations by my own PEL technique. It's something I learned from Aristotle: Pathos, Ethos and Logos. When a presenter delivers with passion, subject expertise, and great organization you have PEL. Anyway, awesome video. I wish I had seen and studied this about a month ago. Thanks again.
Certamente col microfono esterno il suono è tutta un'altra cosa, bellissimo video,da oggi anch'io proverò a registrarmi mentre suono, saluti dall'Italia.
thank you! this is probably the best video i’ve watched for recording guitar in every format. definitely as an absolute adult beginner documenting my progress i’m going to start with just a tripod and iphone. slowly going to build up to the audio interface, daw and video syncing method later on in my journey. thanks again!
I always use my phone's mic and record video capturing the backing track+ electric guitar in one go, saves all the editing after, but thinking of getting a external mic as it sounds way good, plus could use it for vocals too - thanks great video
@@nicanunez7418 I had the phone close to the speaker with the backing track plus the speaker of my guitar audio. Don't do that anymore ad I get much better quality recording with an audio interface.
