In this video I'll show you how to use the BetaFPV Express LRS dongle to recover from a bad firmware flash. This video using a Matek R24D and Matek R24-P6 for the example, but the process will work to recover a Happymodel EP1, Happymodel EP2, Radiomaster RP1, Radiomaster RP2, and any other Express LRS receiver.

Nicely done! Really glad you showed the PWM RX too to cover all the bases. Pro Tip: if you hold the boot button *after* it boots for 5 seconds it will go to Wi-Fi mode and at 10 seconds it will erase its entire config and reboot

Could not flash a Betafpv expressFpv 5 channel receiver and actually work. Saw your video and ordered the dongle but didn't feel like waiting and decided to use the FTDI module I had for Arduino stuff and it worked fine following the same procedure. The BetaFpv dongle looks more convenient than the Arduino module so when I get the dongle it will be my goto FTDI unit. Thanks for the video.

You should also do a video on how to recover a Radiomaster TX12 from a bad flash of the Multi Module since it is an issue where you have to flash the transmitter with hardware once the software update is improperly flashed with the incorrect version. Most TX12 owners don't know what version they have unless they open the bac of the unit and read the chip on their internal module. Those chips have either a C8(newest) or a CB(older) in them...after opening mine it's the C8 version which is supposed to take the TX12 C2500 64kb download.

yay it worked on 1 of 4 i have to try fix , before i could not find any info on the fake betafpv with cyclone on it it uses betafpv 2.4 and nano rx :)

For R9MX, would this method (Using BetaFPV Express LRS dongle) work with selecting BetaflightPassthrough flashing method option as R9MX receiver doesn’t have UART flashing method showing up or I just have to use FTDI adapter only?

Your so so so dam start ! I just bricked 2 RX's doing 3.0 wifi update 🥵 I had 2.5 on them, but so much confusing chatter that you have to have 2.5.2 next before 3.0 , but lots of mister NO NO say ! 2.5.1 before 3.0 . I ordered a dong to follow the master ! If you have a virgin RX , can you flash it strait to 3.x ? no progress updating? No matter what anyone says.your a great guy! 😍

Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, you can flash straight to 3.x especially with the dongle. The reason they talk about 2.5.2 is there was an issue with some manufacturers not following the recommend partitioning strategy of flash on their boards, so they actually created a firmware to fix the partition table before moving to the next firmware level and I do believe this happened somewhere between 2.5.x and 3.x. In any case, I've not had the dongle fail me once. It just flashes everything.

Thanks a lot for that great video!!!!!! I did it in that way .... (TX RM 16S, Beta FPV 1 W, RX Nano PWM, ELRS 3.0, Edge TX 2.60) Works great till 250mW. From 500 mW to 1W its unstable or it doesn't work. I need range on water ...😇 Do you have any idea why? Wold be great to see a video with the theme of watts ..... Thanks a lot for your videos!!!!

Im about to attempt this using an arduino uno as my ftdi programmer. There are 0 elrs/arduino instructions anywhere, and very few instructuons on how to flash other arduinos using this method. Would make a good video imo

I doubt it, but I haven't tried. Why would you? If you want CRSF just use an EP1/EP2/R24D/R24S...?

Good Internet? ELRS Configurator downloads the sourcecode it needs from Github, but other than that, the dongle doesn't rely on connectivity.

@@RCVideoReviews if you have very bad internet it takes hrs to compile, extended reach internet, on 4g hub lucky to get 1 bar, with booster antennas. Lucky to watch a video @144 maybe @240. All my issues are solved have quantum fiber now. On old internet my mkll elrs compile took 6hrs then error , after second attempt went to my nephews and did all my stuff there.no issues. Sorry i live out in the country we just now have our first land line base internet available Quantum fiber too . My 5g phone i can't stream yt but on 240.

I cannot update the firmware in ExpressLRS configurator "FC Found in COM 6 Connecting......" Then build error I also tried using expresslrs webflasher Cannot detect RX Target, blindly flashing I kept trying using Speedybee App Compilation failed Do you have any sugesstion? I got it to work once,as the receiver is no name i used homemade 85 somthing i got from webpage b4 it locked,now that didnt work relocked it..the recovery doesnt work on this rx no more sadly.peace

Is it a bad idea to mount an fc with velcro?

I haven't done any empirical testing, but my guess is yes. Gyros can detect very slight movements. I believe velcro flexes too much meaning your gyro's "center" may have a different point of view day over day. I use double sided tape. My response is opinion, not fact.
