It is really easy to recover files from a broken laptop or desktop. The easiest way to recover files from a broken laptop is to remove the hard drive from the defective computer, plug it into a different computer and many times the computer will allow to boot into that hard drive from the broken laptop. If it doesn't, it should in most cases allow for the retrieved hard drive to be detected at least, and hence you can retrieve your data easily in many cases.

if you are worried that the new drive (the drive whose data u are trying to recover), booting the laptop thentry the following. There are USB to SATA adapter cables available that will allow you to connect any SATA drive as an external drive. This way you can plug this new SATA drive using this cable, on an already booted laptop and access the drive and copy or recover the data.

Also an alternative to this is you can just buy an enclosure with a SATA to usb adapter inside so you can just plug it in then use your usb to usb cable to connect.

Would it be helpful to detect the data if you reset your laptop and reinstalled Windows 10? This is exactly what I had done but unfortunately I had no other option. I tried to save the data but it didn't seem to work.

Sir when I switch on the cpu the processor fan and SMPS fan run for 1sec ( I mean just turn on and off immediately). No display, but the light in the mother board is on. May I know what can make this problem

I was able to get the hard drive out following the instructions on your video but when it comes to electronics, I know NOTHING. What are the names of the cords I need to plug it into another laptop?

Me too, I’m gonna take out the hard drive but I can’t attempt on doing it myself as I don’t have a desktop computer even if I did I’m clueless so I’m gonna go to electronics place to get some professional help to copy my files into some USB

I hope this works! My daughter’s wedding footage is on a broken laptop that my other daughter was editing. Suppose this doesn’t work any other ideas? The best place to take it to get it off? Thanks!

You may try a USB-Adapter. So you may try several PC without opening them! Consider the BIOS. Often the OS will not start, then you open the BIOS and select the right drive.

@@jennifermcleod8176 Just have a notebook from a friend on my table. Broken, I removed the SSD, did not boot from another PC, just plugged in the USB adapter with the SSD and recovered most of the data. So booting up is not always necessary, but nice, because you can recover everything. PS: Assuming your SSD/HDD is ok

Not sure if it will work for me as I don't have enough spare computers just sitting around with compatible OSs but may give it a try. Just wanted to say thanks for the added bit of humor as it can become quite tedious and boring watching through a bunch of videos before you find what you need.

You are welcome. I need to update this tutorial for a more complete one. You can always plug in the drive into a different computer which has an existing OS and drive already and then retrieve your data

So if get my hdd from my old laptop and connect it to another pc and use my my laptops hdd instead of the pc hdd "disconnects the pc's hdd" Will that pc be booting normal like its my laptop booting up?

You could get an adapter to plug it into ur pc via USB or you can plug it in from inside ur pc. I recommend the USB adapter if you don't want to risk accidentally breaking ur pc
