Hi. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'm going to talk through how to redeem an Amazon gift card.
Amazon gift cards make the ideal gift because they're easy for people to get their hands on, and they will please just about anyone. If someone gives you an Amazon gift card, you'll need to redeem that card through your Amazon account before you can start using it. The process to redeem an Amazon gift card only takes a few minutes, and can be done through the Amazon website.
Step 1. Open your Web browser and navigate to Amazon.com. Log in to your Amazon account if you're not already logged in.
Step 2. Click the "Account & Lists" drop-down in the upper right corner of the screen. A menu appears with two sections. One section is called Your Lists and the other section is called Your Account.
Step 3. Click "Your Account" in the Your Account section. A screen with information about your Amazon account appears.
Step 4. Click "Gift Cards" in the list of options toward the top of your account screen. A Sign In window appears prompting you for the password associated with your account. Enter the password associated with your account, and then click "Sign In." The Gift Card Balance screen associated with your account appears.
Step 5. Click "Redeem a Gift Card" in the blue box beneath View Gift Card Balance and Activity on the left side of the screen. Alternatively, you can click "Redeem a Gift Card" in the section directly beneath where your current gift card balance is displayed. The Redeem or Check Value of a Gift Card screen appears.
Step 6. Locate the claim code on your Amazon gift card. This is typically located on the back of the gift card, located either in the center or upper right corner. If you haven't done so already, you'll likely need to scratch off the section covering up the claim code to display it. This can be done with the edge of some spare change, such as a quarter. Type the code in the Enter Claim Code field on the screen, and then click the yellow "Apply to Your Balance" button to the right of the field where you entered the claim code. A message appears in a green box that says the amount associated with the gift card has been added to your account's gift card balance. The new balance associated with all entered Amazon gift cards appears to the right of New Gift Card Balance on the screen.

I have some money left in my gift card balance at Amazon. Do you know if there is an expiration date for that money? Do I have to use it before some specific date or else I lose it? Or can I wait a few years with no hurry before using it and it'll be ok? I don't find any instructions on the amazon website about this issue or question I have. Remember, I already used some of the money, but I still have some left unused money in my gift card account. That's my situation at the moment (so you be clear about what my situation is). This wasn't obvious to me, so I'm going to point out that the Amazon Gift Card I got was inside a sealed cardboard hang tag thing (this was in December, 2021). Numbers and a bar code were clearly shown on the back of this cardboard tag/package so I assumed that was what Amazon was asking for. But, those numbers and the bar code on the package were useless. Finally I realized that you have to peel open the cardboard holder and inside that is the actual gift card that looks like a credit card - and then you will see the card shown in the video with the scratch or peel for claim code thing. Good God. It's unbelievable how one needs a tutorial just to figure this out. I tried redeeming my gift card using the card number. I had no idea I had to actually rip off the cardboard holder and scratch off the claim code. Amazon needs to fix this!

I do not own a credit card or debit card, so if I buy an amazon gift card and type in the code before buying something will it ask for a debit/credit card or can I just click pay with gift card balance without it asking for credit/debit card.

Question. What if you add the gift card balance to your account, then when they ask you to put in credit card info, you put in a fake credit card off a generator then, at checkout, you pay using the gift card balance. Is that illegal?

You should able to use your gift card funds on any purchases. I've never had an issue.

If anybody wants to use their gift card AFTER they redeemed it, you should select it to a amazon HUB where you can physically pick it up. This way, no credit card info required.

OK STOP! What nobody tells you is that your actual gift card can be found inside a black cardboard wallet or envelope. simply tear off the perforated strip where it says 'To' and 'From'. After doing this, all the instructions make sense :)
