Loved it when you said that it takes the same energy whether you put the thing in the right place or wrong. Brilliant ! Hanging the saying on a wall for my kids to read 😅
Wonderful video, thank you! I also love this idea of spending the energy doing the correct thing, your future self will thank you. I live by thinking of my future self and as such always completing the cycle of any activity.
Thangamani pillai, I am not a mother, but still wondering how parents are often underestimating abilities of their own children. I assume, that you also were a kid once and if you learned how to keep the things in order, I suppose you can teach your children too. Or you think, they are not able?
It was delightful to come across your video yesterday! After enduring 6 tedious months in Lockdown, living and working from home in Melbourne (Australia), your simple, elegant ideas have provided some much-needed motivation on how to refresh our environment. Your calm, gentle voice is like a balm for the soul. Thank you!
Just get rid of stuff. That's my solution to getting rid of clutter. The stuff that I do have I use and is hidden out of sight if it's not decorative. Love your channel.
Yes, "reduce" is the first part of "Reduce, reuse, recycle." I wouldn't have as many containers as Jolita has. But she illustrates how containers can be helpful in different situations, so that if you do have that situation, you can see how it would look.
Hi, love your video I’m looking for away to organize my spices. I have some by the stove, others in a pull out drawer cabinet and more in the baking cabinet. Can’t seem to get them together, thanks for what ever help you can give.
I agree that is it too much clutter to have spare blankets on the bed which you have to move before you can get into bed but using the same logic, why is it ok to have a stack of cushions which will also need to be moved? When I'm tired and want to get to bed, the last thing I want to do is to move a load of purely decorative cushions. This is one homemaking style which I still can't understand and I think a bed looks much more inviting without any clutter and just comfortable pillows ready for us to settle down for the night.
Thank you for the question, Jacquie. I am sleeping on two pilows and the decoratives ones using when reading and removing just before sleeping. My husband does the same. Which one is too much?
Trays..baskets...hide behind doors Less things..easy to organize... Keep declutturing frm Time to time...that makes it easier becoz u wont pile up things then...keep some items carefully inside..so it wont add to v.clutter😀😊
This is incredible. I've had some aha moments myself putting things together in containers, but this video really demonstrates the effect it can have on visual clutter. Shes adding things to a cluttered area but it feels less cluttered. Great.
Love, love, love these ideas! I have quite a few silverplate platters sitting unused in a buffet, which will now be pressed into service as organizing trays. And I’m always buying cute baskets at thrift stores. Many have not found their purpose yet but will now! Your video and your home are simply elegant. Thank you for this, I am today a new subscriber!
Your home is so calm and beautiful. I was inspired to make a trip to the thrift store where I found the perfect white tray for all the pottery items next to my sink which hold my dishsoap, hand soap, and cleaning brush. It never would have occurred to me, but wow, what a difference that makes. I'm already loving that those items stay put in one spot, and it is easy to clean the countertop by moving one tray rather than three items. I'm back to subscribe and say thank you from NC, USA! Looking forward to more videos.
Oh, Tricia, your comment made me so happy! I am so glad, that my video inspired you and believe you will enjoy your tray also in the future. Greetings from Luxembourg!
That's what's missing on my counter, a container for the soap and washcloths. I was looking for a metal soap bottle to replace the original plastic bottles, but really, a container would be better. I'll just have to look for one the right size.
I've been watching de-clutter videos for a few years and it's great to see some new tips - thank you! My additional tips are: - fix an extension lead into a drawer by drilling a hole through the back so that you can put all your devices in the drawer to charge them - have no brand names visible (eg put packets that are too big for cupboards into other containers and use elegant containers for eg olive oil and washing up liquid) - keep surfaces clear and have a single colour scheme for things you must keep out
Thanks for stopping to my channel! Today I am sharing my recommendations on how to control visual clutter. Have you also some tips, what’s working the best for you? I would be curious to know it. Btw, Christmas decor preview is from 7:24
Thank you for this video it was very appealing visually. Some of the tips gave me good ideas. I can't use them all, especially all the ones with containers. Putting small things in containers means they take up much more space and I have very little storage space. Also, I would have to buy many extra containers and I want to avoid buying more stuff. So I'll make do with what I have and trying to group things together in uneven numbers, cause that is a genius tip. I also might cut out some round place mats instead of the round tray that I don't have, because round is always straight. ;-) If you have more tips like that that also help when storage space is a problem, I would be grateful. :)
@Hedera Helix, great idea with the placemats! Containers or boxes are really good solution for storing the things, especially those not possible to stack up, but I can understand that you don't want to bring even more things into your space, I am also rather removing than adding. Will think about some tips for small living spaces.
One of my favorite little tricks is I bought a little IKEA cutting board is maybe 5 x 7. Just enough to cut up a pepper and some onions you know for sauté. You don't need the big marble one. Or the massive cutting board. And I have been using baskets and trays forever to store stuff. I think I was ahead of my time when I was young and I didn't know because now I'm old. So I'm loving what the young people are doing now. Really is cool
OMG! I thought that I was organized, until I saw this! I had to do a re-do! Your way is simply wonderful without; much effort! I love the calmness in the video! Evan the cat was calm!😎
Oh god this was a simple and beautiful video. Thanks for the content. PS.: Your little 🐈 so calm in bed was the perfect final to me. Congratulations!!!
Thanks for all those beautiful tips!!! What a wonderful lady you are. You have a very calm aura and it's really nice listening to you. This was the first video I watched if yours, now to watch the rest. Thank you:)
Thank you, Carla! I never liked those traditional shoe racks, lol. It's just one thing which is not convenient with the drawers- you can't store the shoes right away, they have to be aired before. But on the other hand, it's also a positive thing for shoes 😀
❤️ I Loved all your useful clutter free ideas, especially how you organized your kitchen knives in that ceramic jar full of wooden kabob sticks it looks modern, clean & kinda of a high end look too! I Love it!! 💕 I've been trying to look for that perfect wooden knife organizer, but I'm so happy I watched your channel❤️😊 Thanks again for all your great clutter free ideas👍
My pleasure, Olga! If you will do this kind of DIY, my tip: don't fill the canister too tide with the skewers, because it will be difficult to insert the knives. And you have to take everything out for clean time after time, because the skewers are shedding and some sort of dust is forming on the bottom of the canister. 😊
This is such a great way to help when you are living with people with different organizing styles. These tips work for both the person who doesn't want to see clutter, and the person who needs to have their belongings easily visible and accessible.
Hello Jolita! I just watched your "How to Reduce Visual Clutter" video and immediately subscribed. Thank you for many useful tips! Sending sunshine from Miami. 😎
I really dislike visual clutter and I like symmetry in my decor. I’m more inclined to put things in cupboards and drawers though. It works for me because I keep my cabinets organized, so it’s not hard to find what I need quickly. I really like your tip of using round trays because they’re always straight. That’s actually brilliant. I’m forever straightening things.
So simple and practical even I can do this. I hadn't thought of using trays to make several things have the effect of being 1 object. I do use baskets but hadn't considered using them by placing smaller containers in them. I'll definitely be using both of these tips. Now - to find the perfect round trays ...
I don’t know why I never realized trays and trinket dishes actually serve a purpose and reduce visual clutter. I’d always thought of them as unnecessary. But I really see the difference now!
Hey I just discovered this video and I absolutely love it! I have a huge supply of trays and baskets that I’m not using. These tips are great. Thanks for the kitty cat at the end ❤️. Now I’m going to watch a few of your other videos before I start tidying the place.
Because you first show the wrong way and the struggle of people to fix it in a wrong way and then you show the right style and idea, it helps to understand and practically use these tips and ideas. Thanks.
I got rid of all my Xmas clutter. Xmas tree is my front porch outside mediam fern warm white battery lights. Battery candles inside...l use all year. I have never displayed Xmas cards. My season is simple and joyous.
Your ideas are so simple yet with such a big impact! They are so clever! Thank you for such a well done video, clearly presented, you make the mundane look beautiful.
This is a wonderful way to hide containers and make the living space very clean and organized. Thank you so very much . I appreciate your time and energy on this video.
Incredible, I can throw my clutter on a platter and add a plant to make an odd number and suddenly it looks like decoration 🤣🤣🤣 thank you for this video
Thank you Liz! If you going to make one, you have to remember to remove (not need to replace) all the skewers time after time and give a good clean to container, because the knives sort of shaving the skewers and you get quite some dust on the bottom;)
Greetings for the U.S. I just found your channel and appreciate these great tips. Some of them I already do, but I also got some ideas for other areas of my home.
I really struggle with reducing visual noise but also keeping things available where others can find them and not having my home look empty and sterile. The trays and baskets with item of varying heights and then a little piece of decor or a plant really makes a huge difference!
Hi Maria, the lamp is called Setago, mushroom to go, I've linked it in the description box of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-plJLfb3wZFQ.html
Great video! I love to corral items in trays and bins too, and find that it is easier on the eye if they are all white or cream. To me, natural fiber baskets just can’t be cleaned as well as a hard surface can, and wire baskets just give me the heebie-jeebies. Also, it is so much easier to clean your surfaces if you just move a tray out of the way, clean the surface, clean the tray and contents, and then put it back. When it looks like you made an effort at organization and beautification, others seem to not want to mess up your good work. Win-win.
Hi I agree when you put stuff away and not leave it somewhere to put away later. Just makes twice the amount of work. My daughter makes a mound of clothes. When laundry is done. I put away immediately but she heaps and heaps until she cannot find what she wants. I can't stand it. Thanks Take care love from South Africa
@Sushila Shukla, how about closing the door behind this mound and letting your daughter to struggle a little bit with not finding the things? But I suppose is easier to tell it than to do, especially when we haven't children. Anyway good luck with parenting and thank you for the greetings!
Jolita, thank you for doing this video! I went and got some trays yesterday for in my kitchen and it made such a difference! I am standing in my kitchen now and am so grateful. It looks and feels amazing. Thanks again and looking forward to more 😃
I display very little. Once it is dusty, I wash it, store it away and take out something new. Typically, I change decor every season. I really enjoy the change.
That must be really enjoyable! I love to have just minimal seasonal decor, I am letting this job to the nature, exept for Christmas and Easter. And even this we haven't much lol. And the rest stays all over the year, I am really loving to see them. And I can always clean them once they are dusty, 😉
Thank you! Unfortunately we haven't children, so I am not qualified in giving advice on this, but sure you can find some great mom's or dad's here on RU-vid with their tips and tricks. The best of luck to you and your family!
Loved ur ideas...it s actually the visual clutter that that defeats the result of organization..I had actually felt that I had got my home organized after the tedious lockdown period when everybody was at home, but I now realize that I can still improve my home in many areas...
@Farzana Rasheed Ash, thank you! I think, organising, decorating and decluttering are never ending processes and I am so glad you found some useful ideas 😊
Some great tips!! I definitely love to decanter things to help with reducing visual clutter! Also trying to wear clothing without too many logos/words.
I think the color palett is important. No loud colors or big patterns . If the colors are "soft" , just a few and as "natural" as possible It calms the eyes. Good an fitting lighting is also important.
I am more like you to remove visual clutter. My daughter however freaks out if she sees that everywhere is clinically tidy. She does not feel under control if she does not see everything around her. She also needs only transparent boxes so she can see everything. I think it is to do with her ADHD condition. It just drives me mad.
I can imagine how much you have to compromise! My husband likes to store the things one next to the other and I like to pile one onto another 😀 So, he has almost completely covered his grand piano with the music sheets and I have to deal with that. Maybe make a deal with your daughter that she is free to arrange the things in her space and has to accept your arrangements in common spaces (if she is old enough for compromises)?
I use beautiful woven, rectangular or square baskets with lids to organize small items on my bookcases. It's helpful if there is a place to write the contents as it's easy to have them "out of sight, out of mind". In the kitchen my knives are on a magnetic strip on the wall - less clutter on the counters.
I love to see that you use a tennis ball too for your laundry 😉I learned this from my mother years ago! I love the differen baskets you used? Where did you get them? Here in Luxembourg or online?
Very nice! I try to put as much in the drawers and cupboards as possible...esp the knives and bulky stuff. I keep trying until it "feels" right and looks amazing. During Covid I finally fixed my place because being home in it really made me feel that it would all be worth it. I finally understand the whole renovation craze :) and yes you are not doing it to impress others, but for your own comfort and enjoyment.
I truly agree! It feels not so depressing in cosy and tidy home. Is not replacing your social contacts of course, but still, being welcomed to your own home is so uplifting! I am sure, that your home is wonderful and totally agree that we are making our home for us.
Yes we should keep together same kind of thing while we are going to organize house to home which makes mind comfortable and organized bless you stay tuned with love thank you namah shivay
@@JolitaBartkus thank you namah shivay bless you stay tuned with love good luck with lots of unconditional love n Devine vibes of universe for ever with your love ones thank you
Hi The end...was..just taxing How ur cat just stares into the camera...omg I had better like it..ur video or he will make me press like button by pawing me...🐯
Loved this video. Your soft voice and melodious music.... And simple easy guidelines.... It was treat to watch... Actually I too just arrangements this way by using a lot of baskets and trays for putting miscellaneous things in one place.
