If you are using an HDD that is over 2TB select GPT when initializing the disk in disk management. If you already chose MBR watch this: • How To Convert A Drive...

This was a great help and worked perfectly. Been slowly playing more PC games lately and upgraded my Xbox hard drive to 4TB a year ago. I can now use the old 1TB hard drive for pc games which will be a great help as I've only had 200gb to use for games for a while. Thanks so much for this great tutorial

My issue was xbox errors but now I got that issue out of the way and my xbox wont read the hdd. Ports arent bad. Hdd appears on a pc but not disc manager

I had an issue following this as I was using a 3TB HDD and MBR is limited to 2TB so it mad the remaining portion of the hard drive an unusable partition that i couldn't allocate, so note to anyone else wanting to do this with a HDD bigger than 2TB use GPT instead of MBR to begin with

I read this 20 seconds too late.... Fml their goes my 6tbs *Nevermind, you right click on the disc # to the left and then convert it too a GPT disc.

When I plug my hard drive in, the "initialize disk" window doesnt pop up nor does it appear as an option in disk management

I figured it out! You need to allocate the disc space by right clicking on it under disc management and selecting create new volume. Follow the wizard. No setting should need to be changed. Providing a link just in case. www.dummies.com/computers/pcs/how-to-use-unallocated-drive-space-in-windows/

I had the same problem, plug it back into what you were using it with, reformat on that platform and then retry on the pc, I couldn’t figure it out but now it works

When I try to initialize my disc to MBR it say an error happened ?! After that it won’t let me initialize it again ?!! What do I do ? It won’t let me initialize, that’s my problem.

“””PSA”””Just for anyone that stumbles across this comment- Most of the Xbox external storage units are USB 3.0 which means your load time for games on the Xbox external will be tremendously faster than a regular external storage 😁

You are a LIFE saver, I have my old xbox one with an external SSD that I don't use since I built a PC and I was running low on space because I do editing (both video and images), 3d modeling and programming and I said: well might as well use that SSD, but It didn't got recognized, this video was perfect, straight to the point and worked the first time! I finished passing all the work related material to the SSD and I saved a LOT of storage

Bro... this came in so clutch! I bought another HDD yesterday for my PC but forgot I had one for my Xbox. Since I rarely play Xbox now, I cleared it and moved everything off of it so I could save some money and return the one I just bought. Getting back home I thought just plugging it in would work... it didn't. But thanks to this video I saved myself from looking like an idiot because I would've just rebought the HDD. my xbox recently died so i figured it was time to finally set p my pc and devote my games to it, while i do regret formatting my seagate because of simple memories with friends and whatnot im sure i can make more good memories thanks to your tutorial seeing ashow windows updates take up like 60% of my base storage so big thanks for the tuto that wasnt overly complicated or stretched out helped alot
