I did this but put the vanda into a clear plastic storage bin and it now has 5 roots! Just kept a thin level of waterin the bottom and set it next to a bright window. Perfect humidity chamber and now it’s my go to when reviving all of my orchids.Miltonia LOVES it!

Thank you, I was gifted one and most of the roots were mush. It spent a year in the dark in wet soil watered with coffee by my mother in law. I have 1 great air root though and two spikes that are flowering!

This is a very old method… usually commercial growers put the orchid in a bag with the tiniest bit of damp media if at all, close the bag up and put underneath a bench where it’s small amount of bright light (no direct at all or they will be cooked). and left until the roots start. On some plants, it can be months and months.

I have to say, out of all the videos found today, i consider only 4 people who i would consider knowledgeable about orchids and from that select group, you are the most sensible . The way you approach the growing of plants is so logical .

I wish I saw this video before tossing my root-less Vanda. It's difficult to keep Vandas alive here in San Diego, Ca. It's way too dry and barely rain, except this month. I had two Vandas for two years and both of them bloomed for me once since I got them, but then the other one slowly loosing leaves. I didn't know what to do. It finally lost all its leaves so I tossed it out. The leaves on the other one started to turn yellow and roots are not growing. I'll try to bag it to get the roots start to grow. Thank you for this video. Oh and BTW, I like the thumbnails on your video with your subject. It makes it appealing to click on it and watch.

Hi Brad I just came across your video and I like that you talk about the info that what I was going to surge, one of my orchids has bloom couple of times, I dont know if that's how you say it so sorry about that, anyway so the orchid on one of the stems is growing like another orchid or kaki I think you called it that,so is about 3'' long but I didnt know what to do, untill now that I saw your video, I think Im gonna let it grow more before I cut it from stem to plant it and hopefully it does grow. Thank You. by the way I'm new subscriber

Hi, Brad! Thank you for this video. I followed the instructions with an orchid I had cut after fusarium. It has been two weeks and the plant is shrivelled, no sign of new roots. Could it be that I did not cut high enough and there is still infection ( I think I see some new purple on the outside of the stem) or that the "greenhouse" I made was not airtight enough? Any help would be much appreciated! ☺

Brad, would this work for me. I just got a Phalaenopsis gigantea. It has few roots. I had it in semi hydro and that was a mistake. It hated it. I've only had it like four days but lost roots. The newest leaf was small when I got it and now it's soft. I have like four roots left. I just put it in water with KLN. Will leave it there a few hours. Should I use this method to bring it back? It was the one I had told you about before. I really don't want to lose it. It's my first time with this species and I'm off to a bad start already though i think I got a sick plant because of the few roots too and the bad new leaf.
