Have you ever wondered how a Traditional Hackamore horse goes from 2-handed riding into the Bridle and is ridden one-handed with only the slightest touch of the reins?
THIS VIDEO IS FOR YOU.
Watch Cody ride this very "Green in the Bridle" Bridlehorse, who has a start on using the traditions of the Californio Style Bridle Horse.
The operation of the reins is paramount here, but the use of core energy and intention must be considered. There is no pushing of the legs as they are not needed when the horse understands the elements talked about in the video.

You are a reinador, mi amigo ! Watching this makes me want to go ride. Am remembering Chief Rojas writing about a horse being "romal broke" meaning he wouldn't work unless you used the romal but can't fully recall it.

I've had the quickest response from horses if I time my request to turn in time with their feet. It balances them up rather quickly when they put their weight on the inside hind leg. I found if the hind quarters are correct the ribs and front quarters will be correct also.

Will he start to bend his head into the turn naturally after awhile, the counter arc will go away?

Correct. As I not make a big deal out of the counter bend. Keep in mind this horse had a different foundation then what I am presenting here. The horse was probably over reined and so forming the habit of counter bending, especially when the energy comes up. If it was a big concern I would simply go back to the Hackamore and build a better foundation. As it was in the video I think it’s important to ride the horse for the day with the least amount of drama as possible. Thanks for the question.

Hello from Italy, Cody !!! Is that a cricket sound I hear coming from the bit ? Can you see a particular value in them cricketed bits ?

Hello Eugenio, yes there is a great value in the cricket, for one it is a great Melody It often tells of the horses emotional state. Depending on how they roll the cricket, sometimes nervous or scared and other times calm and relaxed.
