There are a lot of people out here that just have absolutely NO experience with tools, hardware, appliances etc.etc. With no experience we have no confidence....and being human would tend to let things slide. Thanks for this video......it is more of a help than you will ever know.
Thank you! I am a senior on my own now that my husband has passed! Learning all of these new survivor tips is quite an education! Sometimes overwhelming! Thanks again!
I feel you. I'm the same here. I inherited my granny's house when she passed last year. I'm in my 60s I only have my father in heaven and the holy spirit he left in me to help me. He sent me right to this video, I did what he said, and "PRESTO" hot water . 🔥 💦 just like that. Yah is amazing and he's all I need.
*I am happy to report that my brows, lashes, mustache, and hair has fully grown back with confidence after watching this video! No more getting singed! Thanks pal!*
He skipped the part where he turned the gas back on before doing the steps to relighting the pilot light. This is was an extremely informative and helpful video. Thank you uploaded. This is exactly what RU-vid was intended for! Many Blessings
You are the best. Thank you. Single dad with a child on the autism spectrum. His mother left and didn’t pay the propane bill. It’s been single digits for a week. No hot water and we haven’t showered. Dishes are piling up in the sink.
Ok no shower, but couldn't you just boil water in the stove and fill a 5 gallon bucket to pour water on yourself using a cup? I mean, just like they do in other countries? 😢
This video worked! I was a little nervous with gas and lighter but now have flowing hot water. Can’t believe your video was made 9 years ago. Thanks for the upload It really helped save time and money.
I want to thank this video it saved me alot of money. I was scared to light it cuz in my mind I'm thinking it's gonna blow up in my face but I live to see another day. It worked.
@@JCorona408 exactly. I was sitting in front of it and the instructions say "remove the two doors". I expect doors to have hinges and there are no hinges. I hope I can light it with a lighter because I don't have matches (too humid here to keep matches)
No it wasn’t ; RU-vid got it’s dark side and big brother controls it. But , these kinds of video’s are great , the only good thing about RU-vid. I just want the world to know what’s really going on with ( Social Media ) how they use the platform for bad intentions , how they sell our information , etc !!!
Lmao that's exactly why I'm here. My girl just called and said hey do u know how to relight a pilot flame, I said yes of course, then proceeded to search how to light pilot 😂 😂 😂 😂
Dude no lie i have watched a million videos about this and folks talk for five minutes not saying nothing,,by farrrr this is the best straight to the point with detail in under 5 minutes #VERYHELPFUL
Thank you very much for taking time to make this clear, informative video. I'm a single mother that doesn't want to call for help in every situation. Your effort helped me maintain my independence by teaching me how to resolve a manageable but potentially dangerous problem.
Next time boil 2 pots of water on the stove. One for soapy scrubbing and one for rinsing. Learned that neat little trick when our water heater went kaput about 12 years ago.
My pilot light went out on my water heater tonight, and I followed your instructions. This is EXACTLY what I needed. You are awesome! Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for this video of the exact gas water heater I have. I was terrified to try to re-light the pilot thinking I’d take the whole block out with me. My husband always took care of this stuff when he was alive. After watching this four times, I gave it a shot and it fired right up. I wish schools taught all kids, boys and girls, basic home maintenance. Again, thank you so much!
Thank you so much!!!! I’m a recent widow and have never had to mess with the water heater. All of a sudden there was no hot water. Your video guided me confidently thru re-lighting it. Again, thank you!!
Adam, I’m a Music History teacher with some years of teaching; and I have to say… Your voice in this ‘Video’ is completely identical and with very similar verbal mannerisms of the late, legendary singer, Jim Morrison. Has anyone ever told or told You this ?? (I find this to be Spot-On) -Great Video as well 👍
I have the same exact hot water heater. The same instruction picture stuck on it as well. Didn't feel confident after reading the instructions. This video walks you through it in a great visual way and gave me the confidence to complete a very simple process.
the guy who layer epoxy coating in my garage floor turned off my gas supply for my water heater tank. To add to my issue, my tank do not have a sparker or striker… so had to go to Walgreens to get some matches lol!!! I was so afraid to do this but watching your video 3 times before attempting it made me confident. And walla, i save $150 in technician fees lol
This helps truly! Whenever my light is off, I come to this video and follow the steps to T. It has never failed me. Thank you so much for uploading this video.
Thank you! I have a heater like this and was nervous about it (wore safety goggles and a coat just in case). Took a few tries for the pilot to come back on but it worked. No more cold showers for me this week!
This is exactly my water heater, and I had just accidentally killed the pilot light. Thank you so much for explaining clearly and simply how to get it going again. You're a lifesaver!
Single mom here... just had 5 men attempting to fix the water heater. I was able to “show them up” with this video. I’ll have bragging rights for the next few months 😉. Thank you 🙏🏾
I want to thank God for you because I was afraid of doing something wrong. Your instructions were well done on the video and easy to follow. The "BEST"
This is one of the better explanations. I have the reset and ignition buttons on my system also and wasn't completely sure on how to use them. The instructions on my unit doesn't really give detailed information on them because I wasn't sure which was the reset or ignition. They aren't marked. Thanks Adam!
I got home and there was no hot water. I had not idea what to do. I see the manual and I don't trust what I'm reading. I just followed your instructions and it worked!! I did it!!! I was so scared. it has been really cold these past few days so that might have caused it. Thank you so much. I have a 2 and 4 year old and my fiance goes to work really early in the morning. You saved us. once again thank you so much for taking the time to share this video..
Thank you!!!! This was a great easy to follow video. I knew I was missing a step, and once I watched you, I had no trouble re-lighting the pilot light on my water heater.
Family couldn't figure it out for about a week. Took cold showers like if we were back in a 3rd world country. Now,family calls me for EVERYTHING since they newly found that I'm a genius. LOL
Taking a cold shower means a person lives in a ”3rd world country"? Amazing! :). Sometimes, a cold shower is a choice, not a misfortune. Maybe the climate is warm like Australia or the Mediterranean. Or maybe cold water keeps their skin smooth and youthful and they don't want skin that looks like they are 20 yrs older. Or perhaps they just enjoy it. I didn't know hot water was luxury. I'm sure anyone anywhere who really NEEDS hot water can put a pot over a fire if all else fails. It doesn't have to be through a water heater.
@@chad5577 That is insensitive and ignorant stereotyping, not good humor. It reveals someone who hasn't done much traveling or lived in another culture long enough to understand that some of their ways of life are by choice and not from poverty or lack. Western countries aren't always a standard. There is a lot we can learn from so-called "3rd world countries" to improve our own health, fitness, finances, consumption habits, marriages, diet, tolerance, relationships, happiness, etc.
Thank you for the upload. I’m a single lady and not handy at all. This video was helpful and lit the pilot! Hopefully the water will heat soon. Thanks again
The reconnection tech had turned my gas handle off, left the dial of heater on on and told my daughter to do the pilot. After watching your video for the second time I realized I must not be getting gas in and noticed the valve on the line to off. Thank you for pointing that out as well.
After returning from a trip I was able to light the pilot light only after watching this video. Had to turn up the gas just a little before it would light. Thanks for posting!
You are awesome! This is EXACTLY what I needed. I thank you for being simple, well spoken and straight to the point!! Now I don't have to rely on anyone to do this for me. Again, I truly appreciate your video! 😊
Thank you so much! I had a flood in my basement from the rain. Didnt notice till the next day i didnt have hot water….was scared beyond belief with 3 little girls in my house that i was gonna blow us up. Worked like a charm. Again thank you!!!
Thank you to the fullest. I searched and searched and finally found your video we have what appears to be the same water heater. So your video was the most helpful. I couldn't understand why I could not press the button to get gas. Then you said you have to get the pilot light button in the right spot. Ding ding ding!!! I was too excited when it lit up. lol
THANK You so much!!!!!!! You just saved me $185.00 for a guy to show how to light it. Than he said the burner coil may be damaged and I would need to replace the whole water heater. If you have a patreon account I'll be more than glad to send you a donation!
Bro! I just got my first apartment and had no idea how to turn on a water heater! Because of you I was able to turn on my water heater! Looks like I’ll finally have a hot shower tonight
You are a superstar. I have the same one. Our gas went out due to this big freeze and I'm scared of gas hot water heaters. I had one blow up in my face one time. Thank you so much. I got it working. You rock!!
Thank you Sir!!! I Followed your advice and lit my heater perfectly. You are awesome!!! This helped me tremendously. Streight to the point with 100% true results. Thank you again kind sir.
Thank you. Excellent instruction video. It really helped me. My water heater (earthquake strap) was covering up the instructions on the water heater on how to light the pilot light.
I have the same water heater except it does not have the convenience of having a second button that automatically ignites to light the pilot. I assume this means I have to light it manually with an actual lighter, I've read several different online manuals/FAQS/diagrams and watched may instructional videos and cannot figure out where to place the actual flame of the lighter so it will ignite to light the pilot, where do I hold the actual flame to light it ? You're video was the most helpful of anything else I have read and watched so thank you so much for posting it, just need this one piece of info to get my hot water back =)
You save my life man. Thank you so much. I was so scared to do this on my own with all those warning signs and the dangers of working with gas and electricity. But my father was out of town and I couldn't wait for him to come back to do it and I couldn't waste money on a technician so I fearfully followed your instructions and I'm happy to say that it worked! Tysm! The visuals and all of the explanations were super helpful for me. And I'm so lucky that the pilot boxes were exactly the same. Bless you and your family!
This did the trick! Thank you. So much better than the other vids I watched first. Your walk/talk through is perfect and like everyone else, I am grateful you could save us a service call.
What a wonderful platform RU-vid is when it can provide these incredibly useful tips. Woke up to cold water when it should have been hot and followed your instructions on relighting the pilot instead of attempt a first time with written instructions when we could barely read because of the small print. Thank you for taking the time to post this video and help out.
Awesome! I was trying for 3 weeks to light up my water heater and I couldn't because the instructions on the panel are very confusing (for me as a second language speaker of English) and this video helped me to do it. We have hot water again!!! Thanks dude, it is easier than what I thought.
I know old video - yet I want to say thank you very much - I would like to ask (if you see this) any idea what to do if pilot does not stay light after after holding down the gas button for a min like you note?
A million thank yous!! I just spent the entire Thanksgiving / Black Friday holiday fixing my hot water heater that sprang a leak while I was at work. I came home to a flooded house with about an inch of water over all the floors and my poor dogs outside looking very confused. I put in new stainless steel flexible water inlet hoses and decided to put in a new expansion tank also because it needed it. Lighting it was the last step in the process. Now I can get ready and go to work!!
Omg!!! You Sir are a life saver!!! Thank you soooooooo much!!!...After coming home late on a Friday to a cold home, traveling back & forth to a relative's to shower, purchasing 2 space heaters, waiting for a friend to come for two days that never showed up to do it for me...& listening to everyone tell me NOT to try it myself cause it's too dangerous. I decided to give your tutorial a try this morning...AND IT WORKED!!!!! Hellllloooooooo heat & hot showers!!!! I feel so empowered!!! #girlpower (Thanks again!!)
Video was incredibly helpful. I went to light the pilot light on my WH today and the cheap plastic knob (on a relatively new Whirlpool unit) crumbled in my hand. Using a flathead to rotate the knob - I was unsure of the positions for on/off/pilot. Found you're video with a similar model has control valve and after watching the video, I was back in my attic with a lot pilot and functioning WH in just about 90 seconds. Thanks for the assist.
Last night had power outage so had to Next day no hot water. Maybe related maybe not. But your video helped me reignite the pilot. Took 3 clicks to get that pilot on. Set dial to Warm, checked through the glass and saw lots of flames going on in there. Will the flame stay like that or cool down until it reaches the 'warm' temp? Thanks.
I was about to call my plumber, then I realized there is a thing called youtube and also dude like Adam in there. 4:08 minutes later I saved money and my son was able to take a shower. Thank you very much brother.
thank you much. I have the same kind of ge water heater. I watched you video and used your advice. it worked. thanks again. you saved me from having to pay a repair guy.
Thanks for a straightforward description of what I now need to do. Also, many, many thanks for not having this be an audition for movie parts like some others on here AND also for NOT playing music. Now, I'll see how well I do at following your instructions.
