Oh my, where to start! My son is engaged to a UK citizen. She is disabled and we’re waiting for the fee waiver for his visa. She is so much better when he is there (med compliant, personal hygiene, mood stabilized, etc), would he be able to apply for a care giver visa? I am also disabled and he’s been my caretaker as well, so between me and his fiancé, he is versed in caretaking. We can’t seem to get any answers or directions from immigration!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! God Bless you for helping others! 😇

I do not have any information about caregiver visa so can’t really advise about this. However, I know about the Health and Care Visa and he can apply for this with his care experience but he’ll have to pay for the application fee which is about £232. I hope this helps.

It depends on your contract with the company. Some will agree to pay for flight and some won’t. Negotiate that with them while agreeing terms. I hope this helps.

Hi Aggrey If you’re in the UK and just looking to switch visa, then you can use your old IELTS. However, if you’re not on any current UK visa and just applying fresh from outside the UK, you need an IELTS UKVI in date for your application. I hope this helps.

Pls I see it online while reading health care workers job, that when you have a degrees taught in English,all you need to do is to send your transcript for English proficiency via ECCTICS/ NURIC. Pls revert back on it, thanks

You are right David. If you watch the next video after this, I talked about Ecctis and the cost. However, there is no guarantee that it will come back positive as it differs across countries. If they confirm the proficiency then you don’t need IELTS, if they don’t then you will need the IELTS. I hope this helps.

Oh yes you can! You go on maternity leave like anyone on a regular tier 2 visa but what pay you get depends on your contract with your job. I hope this helps

Hi Olufunke. Yes you need IELTS or a proof of English. Check out my next video “frequently asked questions” to understand this better. Sociology isn’t part of the health and social care courses so you’ll need some experience in care/ level of qualification in a health and social care course for the role of a senior care assistant. Hi April No you can’t. The UK visit visa doesn’t permit you to work. If you try applying for the jobs, they’ll ask you for your right to work and you don’t have that on a visit visa. You can only apply from out of the UK or within the UK on a different type of visa that permits working and looking to switch. I hope this helps.

Hi Francisca The £10.10 per hour is the minimum salary you can earn per hour to qualify for the visa so just make sure your sponsor isn’t paying any lesser than that. The sponsors know too so I don’t expect they’ll pay you any less. There’s no stage involved.

Thank you for this info. I am in Nigeria and recently got a healthcare assistant job in a private school in Uk. The trouble is my employer says I have to pay the healthcare surcharge and the full amount of £635 for the visa fees to the Uk embassy. Could it be that they don’t know about the occupation shortage list or could their be a different reason why.

Hi Ngozi It’s really up to the employer what they choose to pay for when they sponsor your visa. Their only obligation is applying for your COS and pay you at least the minimum salary required for your visa type . Most employers then offer to pay for visa fees, health surcharge, flight and co to entice employees and help you with the high cost but these days most of them don’t want to do it because they know if you don’t take the job, someone else will as so many people are out looking to get sponsorship. It’s ridiculous but it’s sadly what it’s come to now.

@@AshandMama thank you for your reply. My employers said they will cover the cost of £1270 for when I arrive and nothing else. They said I have to show them evidence that I have money for the application and the surcharge before they can give me the COS. I told them that we don’t pay the surcharge fees and our application fees is reduced but they still insisted that I was wrong. And this is a reputable school and I got this job from indeed.

Oh I get your point now. They are willing to cover the one month expense -£1270 but want you to pay for others. You’re right, you’re only paying £247 for visa and don’t need to pay the health surcharge. Why not go on gov.Uk site and do a screenshot of the visa fee for health and care visa and the screenshot of the part where it says you’re exempt from paying surcharge and send these screenshots to them. It could be a low level worker that doesn’t know how things work but if you send the evidence to them, they might get it. I hope this helps and good luck.

It depends on the contract you have with them. Most of them will give you a 2-3year contract to compensate them for sponsoring you so you can’t leave till your contract is up except if you want to pay them back in cash as reimbursement (always a lot of money).Once your contract is done, you can switch to another job that can sponsor you (it’s easier to get more sponsors once you’re in the UK)

Hi Luiz That means they require you to have rights to work in the UK already and most likely don’t do sponsorship. If you don’t have a work visa in the UK already then you don’t have the proof. Send them a mail that you currently don’t have the right to work in the UK and therefore would require a COS to get a work visa and see what they say. I hope this helps.

That’s not true. I have friends and family with African degrees and jobs here in the UK. It depends what kind of job you’re looking for and where you’re looking.

Waec isn’t accepted. You need IELTS or apply with your degree on NARIC website.

For the visa after getting your COS? Yes. For the job? No. I’ve heard some unscrupulous people are charging for the job but it shouldn’t be so, it should be like applying for a regular job and getting it by merit. I hope this helps

Hi Luiz 1. Be confident. They like people that appears to know what they are doing 2. Communicate clearly. You don’t need any special accent so far you are clear when talking 3. If you don’t have an answer to a question, let them know and tell them you’re more than willing to learn. 4. Relax, you both need each other. The job needs you just as much as you need them. 5. Never use any negative descriptive term when talking about people . E.g He’s a smoker (“The man smokes” is a better way to put it) Good luck 🤞🏽

Hi Asides trying to apply for jobs, following up keenly while here, and researching about living conditions so as to have a definite plan in mind when you get a job here, there’s little else you can do with your visit visa. Application will still have to be done outside the UK as you can’t switch from visit visa to a work visa.

@@adeyinkaafolabi4567 That’s the visa fee for 1 person. The job might pay for your visa or not. It all depends on the contract you have with them.

Hi Aishat You have a very good chance of getting a job as a senior care assistant given your experience especially if you have some form of care certification too. Search for “senior care assistant jobs with visa sponsorship Uk” for options and apply. For IELTS UKVI- a minimum of 5.0 in all sections is advisable. I hope this helps.

Yes. If you already have that then you don’t need to take the General one again. Academic is classed “Proficient User” of English which is higher than the General test which is “Independent User”. So you can use your UKVI Academic. I hope this helps.

Hi It depends on your agreement with your employer. Some will pay for your airfare and some won’t. You can always negotiate for that before signing your contract.

Hi You are only taking the first part that has about 15-17 courses. The rest are for advanced degrees. You can take these courses regardless of your background. So far you have minimum school leaving certificate.
