Hi, I’m Krista! I make math courses to keep you from banging your head against the wall. ;)
Math class was always so frustrating for me. I’d go to a class, spend hours on homework, and three days later have an “Ah-ha!” moment about how the problems worked that could have slashed my homework time in half. I’d think, “WHY didn’t my teacher just tell me this in the first place?!”
So I started tutoring to keep other people out of the same aggravating, time-sucking cycle. Since then, I’ve recorded tons of videos and written out cheat-sheet style notes and formula sheets to help every math student-from basic middle school classes to advanced college calculus-figure out what’s going on, understand the important concepts, and pass their classes, once and for all. Krista, you are an absolute life saver. I have been struggling with remembering the unit circle in its entirety for weeks now. We have our second test tomorrow (failed the first) and its basically what you have done here plus graphing all the transforms of the 6 trig functions. We cannot bring the unit circle to use on the test, but we are allowed to recreate the circle during the test on note paper (on the clock) to use but we must turn it in as well. The beginning.....where you show 1, 2, 3, over common denominators of 2, bottom to top and vise versa and then apply the roots to the numerator was absolutely invaluable. While I cannot guarantee that this alone will be the cause of me passing, it absolutely will be a tremendous help in not completely bombing it. Cannot thank you enough!

So awesome, Brian! I really hope it'll help on the test. When I was in school, I would always work on memorizing the last few formulas I was having trouble with right before I would walk into the exam, and then as soon as the exam started, would immediately right them down on the test. That way I only had to remember them for a few minutes, and I wouldn't have to hold them in my head for the entire test and be distracted. If you can have that unit circle in your head right before you walk in, and then immediately put it on paper, it sounds like that could be a big advantage on this test in particular. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes great for you! :D
@StreuB1

Thanks! The test went well, I think. The last test I failed (56/100), I was literally the last one to turn it in and I wasn't finished. This time I was 2nd done with 20min to spare; not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. I gave it my best though. Things just seemed to flow this time and I knew what I was doing. We shall see in a day or so when I receive the email that our grades are posted. Just an hour ago I received our homework email.....106 problems due Tuesday on: -Graphs of tan/cot functions -Graphs of sec/csc functions -Summary of all circular functions -Fundamental Identities -Verifying Trigonometric Identities -Sum and Difference Identities for Cosine -Sum and Difference Identities for Sine and Tangent Who needs a 4 day 4th of July weekend anyway. Ugh...brutal
@kristakingmath

Wow. 106 problems, is that all?! What are you going to do with all your free time this weekend? 😂 No but seriously, I know how fast summer classes go. 🙈 Hopefully the fact that you finished this test so fast means you've found your groove. Good luck this weekend... I'll be posting more trig videos next week!

Thanks for letting us know about your frustrating past as a young high school student; there would be millions of young students who are suffering the same frustrations. However, thanks to your insightful explanations of "complex" mathematical facts, many more interested people will gain very much from your lectures. It is a given fact that those people who struggled and ultimately succeded in maths will be the best teachers because they know how the "average mind" works and how it can be stimulated to understand complex maths when taught in so-called "bite-sized chunks". Thanks once again for your enlightening lectures.

Dear Krista, Thank you for yet another wonderful lesson video. In this particular lesson it’s interesting to note that you didn’t rely on memorization. You demonstrated the logic, the connections, and the theory behind it all. It wasn’t so much mechanics as it was the flow of logical relations. This is typical of you, and I so appreciate how you teach. You are magnificent. I’ve never met anyone who combines content knowledge with teaching skills and patience with your students as you do. You’re the best on the planet. I’d bet on it. Thank you. And thank you for teaching in such a kind and caring way. You should write the textbook on how to do it all correctly.

Excellent as always, Krista! I teach it almost exactly the same way, except I begin with special triangles from geometry so the kids can "build" the coordinates around the circle instead of trying to memorize them. Then we do a unit circle poster where the kids create a unit circle on top of a known circular object. This year I got great stuff like the Death Star, the NASA logo, Pacman, etc. I love this stuff :)

you have no idea how much this helps me. I missed the entire week we learned it due to a concussion and it was not sticking with me when my teacher tried to teach it to me in ten minutes. Thank you SO MUCH

13:30 I took algebra and finite in school. I had an intro to calculus but didn't take it. These last couple of days im thinking i should have taken calculus concurrently with algebra instead of finite. My dad was an engineer and that still didn't click until just now 25 years later, but only because I watched some calculus/precalculus vids and realized i need to brush up on this before going back(and other unit curcle vids too). why (x,y) equals (cos ¥, sin¥) makes sense now.. finally! . Thanks !!!! Now I just have to watch it again tomorrow, lol

Thank you so much! Watching this video as I get dressed for school. I have pre-cal first period, and would have failed without this. I’ll update my score when it comes.❤️

10:14 isnt it suppose to be 3pi/6 so it will be pi/6 when simplified? coz you said 4pi/6
