You the man!! Got it done and that thing drives smoother than anything I have ever driven!! Very much appreciate your knowledge and willingness to teach!!
Edad Pops Because when the pump fails the metal shavings from the bad pump will get in the cooler and if you don't replace it those metal shavings will flow back in the new pump which will shorten the life of the new one!
Does this truck have a power steering control valve? If so, where? My PS works but just turning the wheel in the driveway makes it shake and vibrate. Heard it might be this valve.
Oh man. Your video beats the few other RU-vid I’ve watched. Very thorough and clear. Need to know where the pulley removal/install kit is available. I love buying tools. Thank you.
Just used your video tutorial to swap out my PS pump. I'm glad this video clearly demonstrated how much better it is to leave the alternator and accessory bracket attached to the engine. No need to fumble around with removing those additional parts.
u r great at not only instructions, but as a mechanic. Next time I would just make sure the people know there is a total of 4 bolts holding the power steering pump not 3.
@K diagnostics I just completed this job on my 2011 Suburban. I changed the o-ring on the high pressure line and it is pouring fluid from the connection. I took it back loose and checked and rechecked. Put it all back together and it still pours fluid when I start the car. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
Ok so dont take this the wrong way but I'm glad the shaft broke off on you. That's great for views cause now people will know what to do if that happens to them
I had 2 different mechanics tell me different things, 1 says it's my rack and pinion the other says it's my power steering pump. I'm used to hearing the pump wine really loud, but in this case it sounds more like a rubbing sound. I'd hate to change the r & p if it's not that
My 2013 Tahoe is splattering power steering oil from behind the pulley, so does the entire pump need to be replaced? If yes, then would you know the part number of the OEM replacement? Thanks!
rss8400 it sounds like the oil is leaking pass the shaft seal, the entire Pump needs to be replaced, I don't have the OEM part number! you can call your local chevy dealer and get it from them!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair hhhmmm was suspecting the same. I am due to get it replaced next week. Any chance I can drive around for a bit until then, it's my only car so, I am struggling with getting around until it is fixed :-/
Awesome video buddy, very detailed instructions, have the exact same issue with my Yukon the pulley snapped of 😯... I hope I have the same luck and everything is simple to remove and replace with no issues 🙏
Thank you for the video! I had a problem with my steering. I thought it was my rack, I changed it first, still had a problem, drove it around and then my power steering went completely out. Should I also change the cooler as well?
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I changed the pump and it fixed my problem. My steering was vibrating as soon as I would turn the wheel, it shook the whole truck. Never heard of a power steering pump doing that before. But why should I change the cooler? I appreciate the info. But changing the rack and pump both is a hard job! I don’t wanna ever do that again. lol
Wish I would of seen this video a couple weeks ago when I replaced my pump on my 2001 Chevy. Didn’t realize I could leave the pressure line on when pulling the pump out. I also made a few other mistakes along the way. I have to take it all apart again, I didn’t bleed it properly now I got air in my pressure line and it’s causing the pressure line to vibrate when turning the wheel. Great video, I appreciate you taking the time to show this job.
You do not start the engine when bleeding, This will cavitate the pump and potentially damaging the pump. You turn the steering wheel 10 times lock to lock to bleed.(making sure the reservoir remains full) Then start engine and turn steering and check for noise, If noisy, turn off engine and repeat
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair And I did like your video, just wanted to add my professional opinion being a Licensed Mechanic and a Hydraulic Technician
Outstanding video. Explains everything. I do most of my own work. I did have the power steering pump replaced on my 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 at considerable expense. Pulling the pully on my PS pump had me stumped. $1000 + later it was done by a garage. Thank you for the video. Next time I will give it a try.
I had to replace ps pump on an 07 4.8. It was necessary to remove alternator and bracket with the pump and work on it on the bench. Mine had rotten lines also so I replaced them. Radiator fan on water pump was also removed. Besides that very similar procedure. Thanks for the video.
