I would have just anchored it on one side and put a rope through the other hole. Yes, it would wear on the rope but the rock is so small that it would only be for a few seconds and not that much force. But it always comes down to what you have handy
Yeah, you’re probably right. Probably some kind of slip knot harness would do the trick too… we’ve surely lost some knowledge since the advent of heavy equipment.
I didn’t have one, I might’ve been able to scoot it up the side of the hole with one though… I tried to make big tongs with a pry bar a shovel and a ratchet strap and it almost worked. Two hoes a fulcrum and a strap would’ve probably worked great!
