Please note that modifying an AirTag in any way may void its warranty and could cause the device to stop functioning properly. Here are some possible reasons why you would want to remove a speaker:
Privacy concerns: Some people may feel uncomfortable with the audible sound emitted by the AirTag when it is in Lost Mode or when it is being located. By removing the speaker, they may feel more secure in the knowledge that the device will not inadvertently alert others to its presence.
Noise reduction: Some users might find the sound emitted by the AirTag to be annoying or disruptive, especially if they frequently use the device to track items in close proximity.
Repurposing the device: Some individuals may want to use the AirTag for purposes other than its original intent, and removing the speaker could be part of the modification process to better suit their needs.
Teardown or curiosity: Someone might want to disassemble the AirTag to learn more about its internal components or simply out of curiosity. Removing the speaker could be part of that process.
Again, it's essential to understand that removing the speaker or any other modification to the AirTag could void the warranty and potentially render the device nonfunctional. Always consider the risks and potential consequences before attempting any modifications to electronic devices.
Here's a general outline of the steps to remove the speaker from an AirTag:
Gather necessary tools: You'll need a few tools to help you open the AirTag and remove the speaker. These may include a thin pry tool or a small flat-head screwdriver, tweezers, and possibly a magnifying glass to better see the small components.
Open the AirTag: The AirTag has a stainless steel cover on one side and a plastic cover with the Apple logo on the other. To open the device, press down on the stainless steel side while rotating the plastic cover counterclockwise. This should release the locking mechanism and allow you to separate the two halves.
Remove the battery: Once the AirTag is open, you'll see the battery. Carefully remove it by lifting it out of its compartment.
Separate the inner housing: With the battery removed, you should see an inner plastic housing that holds the electronic components. You'll need to pry this housing away from the stainless steel shell. Use the thin pry tool or small flat-head screwdriver to gently lift the edges of the plastic housing until it separates from the shell.
Locate the speaker: Once the inner housing is removed, you should see the AirTag's PCB (printed circuit board) and the small speaker. The speaker looks like a small, circular metal component with a hole in the center.
Desolder or cut the speaker connections: The speaker will be connected to the PCB with two small solder points. To remove the speaker, you can either desolder these connections using a soldering iron and solder wick or cut the connections carefully with a small, sharp tool like precision side cutters. Be cautious not to damage the PCB or other components while doing this.
Remove the speaker: With the connections severed, you can now remove the speaker using tweezers or your fingers.
Please be aware that these steps are provided for informational purposes only. Proceeding with these instructions can cause damage to your AirTag and void its warranty. Always consider the potential risks and consequences before attempting any modifications to electronic devices.

@@_will3722 I read that the second generation AirTags you need to be more careful because they put adhesive glue now and if you don’t slowly cut around it first before removing it then you can pretty much damage it
