I wish every instructional video on RU-vid got to the point as quick as yours does. I could care less about the slightly shaky video you got to the point and showed exactly what you need to do and didn't waste a lot of time doing it. I'd rather watch a video like yours that's slightly shaky than the ones that are perfect video but take 20 minutes to give you two minutes worth of information. Nice video very informative.
I can vouch for this mod working on 2010 and 2011 Arctic Cat (utility) 90's. Two additional tips: (1) there are a couple of spacers (small bushings) sitting in the bolt holes between the outer case and the main block. Don't lose 'em. (2) One of the bolts was shorter than the others, and you need to make sure it goes back in the correct hole. The difference was amazing! Thanks!
Those are dowels.. your right dont lose them. But ok if you do. They just align the case to the block. If anyone loses any just put all the bolt in hand tight check the perimeter and then torque down and it will be fine
Many thanks and great video! After watching, I removed the collar on my 2020 KFX 50. The process was essentially the same. I used my Ridgid cordless impact driver for that 17mm nut. For those of you who are trying to do it by hand, it won't work unless using the speed and torque of power/ impact. Now my son is having more fun than ever! ITS SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER!
I watched a few other videos and your video is by far the best. You are the only one to drop the belt down in the secondary pulley to get enough slack to reassemble 👍🏻
Wow! So easy to follow your video!! Thank you for sharing tools needed ahead of time! We just did on our 2014 today. Just paused as we watched, now little man is ripping around twice as fast!
Nice job 👍🏻 I like how you gained slack by dropping the belt down in the secondary. Next time my 10 year old grandson comes over I will show him your video and let him do the work
THANKS JUST REBUILT A 2017 YESTERDAY FRONT AND REAR CLUTCHES NOW IMA TAKE IT BACK APART AND REMOVE THIS COLLAR THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO! KEEP MAKING CONTENT MAN MUCH APPRECAITED
Thank you. I just did a 2020 KFX 50, seemed the same except no short bolt, all 8mm were the same and did not need to do anything with the kickstart either.
@@johndoe-tf7tq it increases top speed... it just let's the belt ride higher up on the clutch, basically changing the ratio, like the CV belt version of shifting into a higher gear
Just moved to this model off of a two stroke. My kid races harescrambles and this will definitely help. Thanks for the video. Hopefully this will give him the speed he misses from his two stroke quad.
I did this on my sons 2020 kfx90 but when he lets off throttle it makes a terrible slapping noise and you can feel it. I’ve taken it apart and put it back together 3 times and still same result. Any ideas on what is causing this?
Thanks much your video was very helpful. However I have a kimko 50 quad that only idles but don't respond it full throttle plus it started running in reverse any reason y it runs in reverse and how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
So if i change the weight of the rollers will it give me some acceleration/top speed? And if i change the spring tension in the clutch will it change the engagement feel of the bike? How bout changing the contrast spring to change cvt transition between low/high gear ?
Awesome thanks my son is now 4 and it's starting to get a bit to slow for him theres a few videos of him riding on his channel ATVchild if you're interested in checking it out .
jeff phillips ...nope. the wire cut is a rev limiter wire...the atv is build for a 12 year old...so the real question is how long to you want him to live? if a 90cc for a child is not fast enough just upgrade him to a kfx700. it's full auto as well. :)
Great video !! Finally someone that did one worth a damn ! hey would you recommend replacing the belt while your in there ? Mine is a 2007 KFX50 with maybe 30 hours on it.
what is the top speed now? I have a 2009 model and it only goes about 13mph but I'm planning on doing this, I'm 13 and I got to make sure I do it right so thanks for the video! there isn't that many more out there I don't think
I have the 2015 Kawasaki 50cc. When the case is off, and the belt is exposed, the 90cc shows a black, half circle cover with a hold at the top. The black cover would be about the size of a golf ball if it were a full circle. The hole is slightly larger than 1/4in. On the 50cc I have a gear coming out of the spot where the 90cc black cover is. The 50cc also has a gear that is on the main bolt we take apart to remove the speed collar. It's about 6in across. Anyone know if these two gears should be connecting? Not connected the quad still moves forward. Maybe this charges the battery? Do I need to get the belt looser and tighten the bolt more, so these two gears connect? Thank you for the video. Your directions made this a snap. On the 50cc I could not get the bolt off with a hand ratchet or my electric impact. I had/got :0 to purchase a pneumatic impact driver to get it off. How do you know if you have it on tight enuff when using an impact?
I accidentally pushed mine in on a 2015 model. That little black moon looking thing above front clutch. Does that matter? Don't want to put back together if that was bad. Trying to get speed collar. Thanks for the video. Please let me know if you have a suggestion on hoe to wedge the cover. Don't have impact drill
Upgrades that will get your kfx 50 or 90cc way faster... After hrs of research what I did to my sons 2015 kfx 50cc ,top speed 23mph ,and it picks up speed quick 1.removed the collar 2.performance coil and cdi total cost 45 dollars for both cdi needs rewiring but it's super easy make sure it's (DC CDI) 3.UNI air filter drill holes for better air flow 16 dollars 4. 5gram performance rollers 16 dollars Last upgrade the most expensive is 5. Pro circuit exhaust t5 they cost new 260 dollars or get lucky on eBay like I did 90 dollars Cheap easy and end result fast 50cc I have videos thanks
Matt Thomas.. some of the clutch covers (that case you refer to) you have to actually remove the kick start first. make sure all the bolts are out too.
bosaleh74 .....you were absolutely 100% right. I just bought my son a 2017 suzuki lt-z90 and it is done in the same process as the kfx.... so similar in fact I was going to make another video but if you follow my instructions on this video it should be just as easy. Give or take a few different fasteners.
that's good , congratulations 👍 by the way , all the ATVs that I know are made in Taiwan, kawasaki, yamaha and suzuki , you can see the same DNA when you work with them So what is the best , the z90 or kfx90☺️ ? you_salty_bro?
bosaleh74 ...., yep. Kymco is making Kawasaki ATVs anything under 125 CC... I bought the Suzuki thinking it was going to be Japanese made but apparently somebody in Taiwan is making that as well. the suzuki is too new right now to get into the throttle to see what I like more but I have a feeling I like the Suzuki better even though I'm a little kawi fan
Could I take the speed coller off for when I want to ride it to go get the mail bc we have a long driveway and stull be able to tighten the throttle stop screw for when my son still rides it and everything will be OK
@@whiteoprahOG so I pulled the outside of the primary clutch off did not let the back one slide out. Put the 17mm back on and when I put the cvt cover back on i found 2 stainless steel cylinder looking spacers half inch to 3/4 of an inch long. Where would those have come from
@@whiteoprahOG I started it and it moved forward a couple feet fine I am just scared to test ride it bc i don't want to mess anything up bc I just bought it yesterday. 2020 kfx90
if thats the case then im sure it does. if so it would be the same process as the 90. if the procedure is different then you might have to remove the whole clutch boss and replace it with a boss thats diameter is smaller.
