WD40 dissolves the glue almost instantly, then a bit of turpentine/acetone to degrease

What worked best for me is either metal wire or fishing line and have one person hold the board and you pull the fishing line to pull up the traction pad but great tip

@@HoStevie Yeah, I run out of acetone, I then run out of turpentine, but I had a big bottle of white spirit, and that stuff worked like magic.

Acetone can melt the foam of your board, not to mention what that shit does to your skin

I just did this yesterday! lol! took me an hr. I used goo-gone & washed it 3 times after because the goo-gone can make it oily.

Nice! Yeah goo gone is weird, it's supposed to clean stuff but it leaves its own residue haha

Yeah it was really oily so it forced me to wash it 3 times (soap and water and a rinse). Dried it the last time. But it was super clean when I put on the new traction pad.

i wouldn't use Turpentine. 30yrs ago I used turpentine on my board few times and it started ti delaminate badly and it wasn't that old then. Acetone is good. Or 3M glue remover. Or yeah use fising line string pull through beneath.

This definitely worked. Aceton ate up all the glue, but I think I used a little too much because it also ate into the deck so that the paint job got smeared a bit. It's just that outside layer of fiberglass on the board that covered the paint, but do you think that damage is alright? Or should I try to get someone to look at it in case it's going to cause issues down the road?

Hmm that's strange... if it's still water tight it should be ok, but it's hard to say without seeing it

polyester like a hard board? I would put a rear traction pad on it, yes 👍 Soft tops and longboards are the only boards I ride without traction pads

Why won’t you take all the wax off of your board while your at it? Especially if you’re putting on a traction new pad? Bigger question is why would you even put on a new pad on such an old board. I bet the pad costs more than that surfboard. This vid makes very little sense but at least you got the old pad off, too bad it took you so long.
