Removing the aftermarket alarm system from a Toyota Tacoma. Should be similar on most any car with a universal alarm.

Good morning sir thanks for taking the time to post this. I have a question, I have a Avital remote start on my 2005 Ford 250. Since my remote does not work, whenever I connect the battery the alarm is sounding (I’m assuming it’s because I haven’t disarmed it with the unlock button from the remote since the remote stopped working yesterday and left me stranded since I could not start up truck) can I still proceed with these steps you provided even if my alarm is sounding whenever I connect battery? Sorry I’m not so knowledge with car alarms. Thanks

@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures (very little electric experience) seems to be a decent job. just confused on what i need to re attach. they have 2 connectors by the fuse box inside under left drivers that i cant identify and the light, toggle switch. also a small black box by the door that seems to interact with the stock interior light automatic door switch. The smaller alarm box had 4 attachment pins that i just popped out. Ill have to go get pins to fit these, a crimper and wires to finish the job as they didnt leave any slack. working on a 94 toyota pickup.

Question i had partially removed one of these systems ( as in i just pulled out the big 8 prong out of the after market alarm part) because i had a failed fob and i could not be asked to deal with it at the time, and the carlock light was on permanently (which i just ignored) because it didn't seem like it did anything other than being an eye sore, fast forward a few months later and im just stranded when i turn the key absolutely nothing happens. in your opinion do you think this would be a delayed issue with partially removing the alarm system from the car? for ref the car is a 2012 chevy (hell)malibu 2.4l
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Год назад
I can’t say for sure, but most of these systems are easy enough to remove that it’s just best to get it out of there to eliminate doubt.

I will be trying this on my Toyota 4runner. It's a 96, and it starts but as soon as ignition is off and doors are shut the alarm goes off until key is turned back on.so I'm removing siren and alarm system cause I'm tired of it. As of right now I have the battery out because I dont want to hear it screaming all night lol

Any idea how the override works? I have a 2008 sienna base model that appears to have a dealer-installed system. There's a momentary pushbutton on the kick panel and then a red led that flashes when you lock the doors. I'm not having problems except that it toots the horn when locking and unlocking. I'd like to disable this feature.
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Год назад
They are all pretty similar, honestly it’s best to remove the entire thing because it will fail and leave you stranded.
@cliffmcleroy8168
@cliffmcleroy8168 Год назад
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Good point. I had thought about leaving it and dealing with the horn toot when I lock and unlock. But if I test it by arming it, waiting a minute and then reaching through the window and manually unlocking the door, nothing happens. So it's basically an annoyance and potential problem. I just need to figure out where a brown wire goes that goes to the center of the dash somewhere..
