Glad I found this video bc I changed my fuel/water separator filters on my 379 Pet today and found it. I’ll be buying that stuff tomorrow to try and get rid of this mess. By the way my truck sat for 4 months due to me having major surgery so I think that’s how it formed.

I used the Clear Diesel and it clogged 4 straight filters in my motorhome. This stuff works ! Just take extra filters if your going on a trip after adding it to old fuel

I pressure washed what I could, dried it with compressed air, treated it like you did then drove it for a few days and changed the fuel filters. I filter used motor oil and transmission fluid from every car I scrap and cut it with gasoline from the cars. Then the other 50% is diesel fuel. Haven't seen any more growth since the cleaning.

What your using or killem biocide is what's always worked for me, and has done great job at keeping my fuel in all my mv trucks, the 1000's of gallons of fuel I keep stock plie, in my military generator and other things. It's well worth the money to dump that in, vs replacing filters, fuel, parts. Glad to see your using the same thing and about everyone I know uses it and no issues.

Killem is great stuff too. I've used it before when I had a 600 gallon tank with an infection. Cleared it right up.

thank you so much...i have been dealing with this for 1 and a half years on my John deere tractor...and 125 gallon fuel storage tank...been treating both but still problems...i believe the bio stuff kills it but it is still there...they don't understand this...i believe from my experience and treating /dealing with this that maybe this bio stuff will kill it but it does not dissolve it where it is not a problem...thanks for you info, i am still dealing with it and researching it.....

Paint strippers won't do much, but ACETONE will dissolve diesel microbials in no time. I had a tank more filthy than yours that would clog filters in minutes and since I couldn't dismount or cut open the tank to mechanically clean it, I poured a few gallons of Acetone in and towed the vehicle around to slosh it good for an hour or so, then siphoned the liquid out and it came very clean. NOT paint thinner, but pure acetone.

I have a little diesel air heater - wondering what the hell those flakes of green are - looking like algae. A little water in the bottom. Guess I'll tear it down and blow it out ever so often. I was thinking just to vacuum out the tank and be done cause (compared to yours) it's not bad at all. Dunno yet!

Any idea what black looking chips are that resting at the bottom of my fuel tanks? Some one told me that it also was some sort of algae.
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair Год назад
You need to get some of it out and see. It's most likely pieces of rubber from the soft fuel hose inside the tank between the pump and the outlet of the pump hanger.

Thank you for your videos. I'm new to diesels. I'm new to M35A2's. I have never heard of algae in fuel tanks/fuel lines. Please, please, please, show how to DROP a fuel tank. It looks like there are about 6 or 7 different connectors on the fuel tank. I'm clueless on how to remove them. The fuel pump looks easy enough. And the steel straps appear easy enough. But, on my 1971 M35 there are a number of separate connectors on top of the tank. I don't know what they are, what they are for, or how to disconnect them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again. It's pretty straightforward. They're all different sizes, so you can't hook them back up wrong. Biggest line is fuel supply, 1/4" line is vent, 3/8" line by cab corner is fuel return. Then you just have fuel pump power connector and fuel level sender plug.

I'm running a 95 powerstroke, sat for 2 years, died while driving, found fuel filter contaminated with algae. So I'm treating the front 20 gal tanks with 1oz of bio kleen. I would rather spend 30 bucks on the chemical than all day pulling my truck apart to get to the fuel tank. I am curious, how did it turn out for you? obviously im going to have a contaminated fuel system... the stuff wont just disappear from the chemical.... does it 'melt' away and become easier to combust? or do you have to actually kill it all then clean tanks? I am hoping a simple tank treatment will help me. thanks in advance
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 3 года назад
It will kill it but the dead shit will keep clogging filters until it's gone unless you clean the tank out.
@johnwinkler3981

If I just wanted to cycle the fuel through the fuel system, can I use a 5 gallon bucket and cut a hole in the lid to fit the fuel pump? then put 3 gallons in the bucket and fire up the engine? Or will the diesel melt the plastic?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair Год назад
It won't hurt the bucket. That should work fine.

Had this problem in our little 5.5ton excavator, since it only runs a few hours a year(barely) and used to filled it with regular diesel thinking it was all good, but it got clogged up seriously. Try to use Blanche diesel, Without any RME in it. RME will result in algae-infestation... The tank was the major "wormhole". But E85 did an amazing work on this, but it took almost a week to clean it out because of the different angels and hard to get to spots, and because you got to leave it to do its work. We tried everything,(every liquid known to man) gas and ethanol included, but E85 worked like a charm. Try it, i can guarantee you wont be let down. This worked wonders for the tank, but i wonder how to inject this concoction into the fuel-system and to let it sit for a few hours before flushing it all out. Any ideas anyone??
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 3 года назад
You would have to run an electric lift pump to circulate fuel through the system without running the engine.

@tacticalrepair

You only need to do it if you find that you have an algae growth in your fuel tank. Waste of money otherwise.

@@tacticalrepair yes I have algae. I added some in today. When should I change the fuel filter and should I add more after the filter is changed?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair Год назад
@@quantaviouswimbley1959 no, I'd only add one full bottle to a full tank and then run it until the filters clog, then change filters and keep running it and changing filters as needed. You should only need to treat the system once unless you pick up some contaminated fuel again.

Right. So what point are you trying to make? The same product will also work to kill bio growth from gasoline. If there's something I can clarify to help you I'll be happy to do so. You been running your M35 on gas?
