A useful video, especially the advice on removing the wing with 'cheesewire'. For info, cycle wings in new build kits are no longer bolted - they are bonded and provided enough adhesive is applied (basically a nice thick fillet both sides) then this is good enough to pass IVA. I followed the Caterham assembly guide which recommends applying a decent bead first, just as you did, then securing with masking tape around the wheel before leaving it 24 hours to fully cure. Then the wheel can be removed and additional adhesive added and smoothed (WD40 on the gloved finger makes it really smooth when finally finishing if you use the same Teroson MS 9220 that the factory uses). I can see that for a business where time is money, the approach you take works better since you have lots of experience.

Good video thanks and interesting that you mention tyre sizes. I have a 2014 Supersport with ZZS 185/55R13 with little clearance to the wingstays. I am worried that when I need to replace these tyres I will also need to replace the wingstays if ZZS are no longer available. Maybe a video on tyre options would be worthwhile.

I don't have a Caterham, I have a Westfield (I can hear the boos from here), but my wings are bonded on and need to be replaced so this has come in really handy! Thanks very much for posting it. I will definitely be watching more of your vids 👌

Another good one Callum thanks...I'm building my kit, and one of the next few jobs is the front cycle wings, which I've been putting off because it scared me a bit! Watching you do that one lessens the anxiety :)

This is incredibly useful, thanks for such a detailed video. You've got a new subscriber :) I have an issue with one of my cycle wings where it seems to be too close to the wheel - not sure if its been sat on or knocked and slightly bent, whether the fibreglass is poorly shaped or what. Noticed it when strapping it to a trailer. The indicator repeater as a result has been torn out a couple of times by straps and then driving. Noticed the tire sometimes rubs the cycle wing too though i see no meaningful wear on tire or tread thankfully. I don't need the repeater so I will just get two new cycle wings and bond them on as shown. If i find the cycle wing is still very close to the tire, do you have any tips to adjust it without bending or buying and fitting a new cycle wingstay (the frame itself)? Perhaps something to pack out more of a gap?

Hello! We wouldn't recommend bending the stay or packing it out really. Both are going to produce sub-standard, and possibly unsafe, results. Best to get the right sized stays for the wheels and tyres.

Thank you for this video, my front pass side fender actually flew off the other day, so have black fenders in route. Question; Can I glue as shown and then bolt on (gently with rubber washers) so I don’t get spidering but acts as a fail safe in case glue breaks?

You could Tyler, yes. But TBH, we don’t really see the point. You might just as well bolt them on then (which can be done without making spiders 🕷️)

Another great video Callum. Done this job a few times but didn’t know to use a cheese wire - a nice tip. Thanks for sharing 👍

Love watching your videos - always learn something new. I am interested to change my headlights into carbon ones. Would be great seeing a video how the headlights and indicators are mounted and how the cabling is done though. Thanks!
