1) Thank you for getting to the point right away!!! Most RU-vid videos would start with a 20 minute section describing the history of turn signals. 2) Thank you for not drowning out your instructions by having a hard rock guitar track.
Quick Tip: To remove the assembly easier just pull on the rubber at the corner up to the left of the top fastener hole and it should pop out for you, instead of having to push in on the side of the lens. Hope that helps!
watched several videos and this was the best. The hint about using the heel of the hand to pop out the taillight assembly is the key. I popped it out on the third pop. Only took about 2 minutes to change the brake light (not including the trip to the auto parts store). I used a 5/16" nut driver which worked fine too. Great job.
I have this exact make, model, and year. I've never fixed anything on a car EVER. and thanks to your video I just changed my break light all on my own, thank you so much!!!
Absolutely perfect instructions, especially "the trick" to safely removing -- and not breaking or cracking -- the tail light lens assembly! Done in 15 minutes or less! Thanks man!
Thanks so much for the video. My dad was helping replace my brake light (ok, he was totally doing it for me) and we could not get the lamp assembly off. That trick saved me an embarrassing visit to the service center for a stupid light bulb.
I remember the good ol’ days when all I needed was a good pair of hands and then twitter and turn the light socket… nowadays one need an entire tool set to change the light bulb and battery on these Escapes 😅. Thank you for the video. Very helpful.
Great help! I'd spent 20 minutes trying to find a bolt that didn't exist, then got on youtube and found this video. Thanks. (you could use a helper to hold the camera for you though :)
Thank you!! It took a bit of force to get mine off with this trick but it worked like a charm!! My grandma asked how I knew what to do and I said "Joe on RU-vid" Thank you!!
Thank you Joe! You stopped a guy in Pittsburgh from punching his Ford Escape tonight. I needed to know "that trick" to getting it out & it worked like a charm. You the man! :-)
Here's another guy from around the Pittsburgh area that was about to punch his Escape today too until I found this video . Us yinzers must be violent . Lol .
Perfect! It went super easy thanks to your video. I appreciate sharing the 8mm fastner size and the hand push tip. I'm sure you saved me from breaking something.
Good video helped get get familiar with the tasks. And for others who watch, please note that a 5/16" socket works as well. My current metric socket set stops at 9mm, but luckily 5/16" worked perfectly. And it was dry where I live today, so I heated up my hands with my warm moist breath before pushing the lens out. That helped give my hands some grip against the plastic lens. Quick, 15-20 minutes and your done. I think I had a more difficult time shopping online to find the right bulb (w/o falling for those LEDs which might cause more work). ;-)
Thank you so much been trying and watching videos and nothing made sense and built more frustration. Found your video and it made sense, kept pushing lamp as you instructed and it finally worked now to the second one😅
Thank you so much. If it weren't for your video I would have spent another 2 hours trying to get the light fixture off. Probably then breaking it. Then possibly shooting my car. But with your video I fixed it in three minutes. You da man.
A useful video thanks. Not sure who's got a sharp pick. I mauled the plastic caps a bit trying to use a small screwdriver to get them off. A butter knife was able to do it cleanly.
Great video...before I saw this I used a small suction cup used for working on cell phones....stuck it on taillight and pulled straight back..came right off....
Is there anyway you can make a video on how to change the reverse lights on a ford escape 2016?? No one has made a video on that type of light replacement.
My 2016 Escape still has the factory-installed assembly & bulb, but it will not budge, no matter how hard I try or how closely I follow the helpful instructions in this video. If it isn't covered by the warranty I'll have to pay the dealer to replace the brake light bulb.
I wonder what someone was doing that they should have been doing on their own time 00:00 😂 Thanks for the video! Things like this are real timesavers. I know exactly what tools are needed and a trick of the trade. Taking a 30 minute "discovery" job to a 10 minute swap
Mine was stuck also and wouldn't come loose. After wrenching my wrists several painful times to no avail I figured there had to be a better way. I noticed there was a white hook shaped tab on the bottom of the lens housing up in between the quarter panel and the housing. I slipped a strong shoelace in there and snagged it. It gave me enough pull strength to pop it out. I didn't think of using duct tape but I will try that next time. I also coated the inserts with white lithium grease so hopefully it will slide off easier next time.
Tried the bump method and couldn't get it to work. Ended up getting a flat rope around the tip of the light and pulling back and the cover popped off. Just had to wiggle the light a bit to make enough space for the rope. Good luck!
1/4 turn and the bulb comes right out. Well unfortunately that isn't the case with mine. Can get the blinker light out with no issue but the break light won't budge an inch! It doesn't turn at all. Any ideas?
