Come to PA we have lots of pot holes lol . Roads here are horrible because of salt . I need to get my outer tie rid done soon on my 2001 audi a4 after watching this it helped me understand it more.
Haha I've never been to PA but yea maybe someday I'll pay a visit to PA and all of its potholes lol. Replacing the outer tie rod is pretty easy, I've been really itching to make a video on it too, but havent had a car that needs it yet. GL
Almost 5 years old video but still helping people out! :D I have exactly same pop-sound-issue (supportarms and balljoints are all new and good) with my old Passat B5.... and it appears right after I changed front shock absorbers. I'm 99% sure this will fix my poppings. Thanx for this tip dude (^_^)
I’m pretty sure it was loose Strut top Nut and not strut mount(on video it looks fine). Also I would check strut - while in there. I had the same popping noise, I tighten strut nut and popping noise disappear.
I might have a similar situation so this is a perfect timing. Do you I can wait this out till summer? What do you think might happen if i ignore this kind of strut mount problem?
I guess if it is indeed the mount a minor noise it should be fine, but you can always just get the strut assembly out, buy the mount and take it like that to a shop and have them put it in their bench spring compressor and replace the mount under 5 minutes.. they usually only ask for a tip or $20 bucks or something. But it cuts down alot on your repair time. GL
Thanks for the video. You should not use a pry bar on the pinch joint. Instead use a ball joint fork / separator. LOL "...it is likely you'll have to replace your motor..." Sometime that is the painful truth.
Haha yea I was gona say motor mounts..but caught myself halfway. I do have a ball joint fork/separator but it actually does more harm than good..as in it damages the rubber boot that keeps the grease in and that causes premature failure of the ball joints. The pry bar was more for causing vibration than to dig in there.. it did no harm. cheers
12:26 Not trying to be rude but putting your hand where you did was about the dumbest thing you could have done. think about losing all four of your fingers and having this video to remind you every time you watch it? Please for the love of God just don't make that mistake again
@@tonymartinez1able The compression force is enough to launch the spring across the street. Your fingers will fly with it. If you are lucky, it will just break your finger bones.
