I have been search for videos on this Toyota 5VZ (3.4L V6) engines and this is so far the best video tutorial I have ever seen. Really clear and enunciating. No shaky camera or noisy background. Also I very much appreciate you taking off some parts, such as the upper radiator hose and the sensor connector, only for good quality filming. Thank you!

I just bought a 2002 4Runner and I have no idea what I'm doing. Watching your videos gave me the confidence to start off with replacing the spark plugs, wires and ignition coils. I just wanted to say thank you. I think you're so awesome, and if you were local I would 1000% go to any classes you offered. I WISH I had friends to hang out with at 1am on a Saturday morning wrenching on our Yotas! lol. I really appreciate your videos, Thank you so much!!

My 1997 ‘Runner has 307K miles and runs likes a fine clock. Bought it here in GA back in 1999 with mileage @ 32K and is still generally in excellent condition with no rust whatsoever. One of the very best purchases of al time since on this green Earth. Really appreciate the tutorial. Great job!

Your generation 4runner is quite literally the most reliable vehicle ever made. Sadly, here in Ohio they are almost all lost to the local salt truck. A guy that works for me has a 1997 with 386k miles, rusty patched frame (ohio salt), all original ball joints still good, perfect engine, perfect trans and nothing else wrong. Not even a check engine light.

HA! (I know this an old vid) but I got an 97 taco 2.4....5 speed manual, has close to 400k with OEM clutch and trans! She has killed 4 deer here in GA! I've replaced 2 radiator support brackets (other 2 I just bent straight) 4 radiators, 4 AC condensers, 4 grille, bumpers, lights etc etc and she still runs! She cranks up every time so I can drive her on the trailer to bring back home! One helluva truck!!

Thanks for the information. I was reading about the guy from Ohio who spoke of our state losing many of these to rust. I agree. I picked up a 3rd gen 4runner that needed mostly brake and suspension work with hardly any rust. I didn't have to pay a premium and it was my oldest son's first vehicle. He loves it. The next video on the list will be the timing belt change. I appreciate your efforts in making the videos easy and fun to watch. I myself just picked up a 2005 Sequoia and apart from the usual issues I am very pleased with it, as with all my Toyotas. I look forward to catching more of you.

@patmowatt2130
@patmowatt2130 2 года назад
Great video. When I did mine, the AC tension bolt snapped off (living in the rust belt) and I had to put it back together temporarily without that belt. No big issue as I didn't need AC in the fall, but what a task trying to find JUST the tensioner flange piece- Toyota would only sell the entire assembly, and scrapyards in the rust belt aren't much help for parts like that. I eventually did find a Toyota dealer who would sell just the flange but it cost over $50 with shipping. I think there's a market opportunity for someone in the southern areas to strip wrecks at scrapyards for parts like these.

You make everyone else look like idiots Faye! Thank you for being so clear, detailed and complete about the steps to accomplish this deceptively difficult task. I just failed at my first attempt to remove the power steering belt because the other DIY vids suck. I also didn't think I could get to the hex head for the tensioner screw because of the hard aluminum A/C line in front of it (ARGH) but you make it seem easy! Feeling very fortunate that I found YOUR video because now, I feel confident that I can accomplish the task. Thanks again, you ROCK Faye! BTW, love the chickens. EDIT: Just a safety point. Remember to remove ALL jewelry when working on your vehicle. I've seen what happens to body parts when something like a ring or watch gets caught by the wrong thing and wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. My 2-cents...

great video. couple things i ran into: the tensioner on the power steering bracket is a bear to get to. Under neath was best. Don,t go at it with out a ratcheting wrench!! Same thing with the stuck tensioner on the AC idler pulley. Once you loosen the nut on the front and make some room by backing out the tensioner nut, you have to tap it up a couple inches to get the belt on. Tensioner was stuck on mine too. The old truck has AC again. Woohoooo!! Thanks
