Got an older Dell 1525 with the same message upon start-up. But there is no text box where the p/w, right or wrong, can be entered! Ok tried the same method you showed here but the laptop keeps returning "wrong p/w - press enter to try again". Any suggestions? Also tried an external keyboard but think the USB ports are turned off or not working! Thank you 🤓 you can type some letters/ numbers but they don't appear on the screen.

You made my kids day and u made my year. Thank you so much (dell venue 7). note: because no ctrl on touchpad keyboard I just connect a usb keyboard and press ctrl+enter and it works!

worked for me. but take note: 1) the code is caps sensitive 2) press control + enter after keying in code. NOT ENTER

Even doing it this way did not work. Actually when I tried using this website to look up the system/admin password, only the Dell HDD serial number(old) password showed up. Not the system/ admin/bios password.

Have a Dell 5400 laptop that I tried this trick on and even though this worked on an older dell, it did not work on the Dell Latitude 5400 as it was telling me that the passcode was incorrect and shut down. Is there any other advice or resources that you could give me to solve this issue?
