Artillery fungus (or mold spores from mulch) is a common but sometimes PESKY problem that every car owner experiences, especially in the summer when mulch mold spores are more active. Rail dust (orange specks on your car paint), bee poop (yellow specks on paint), tar, sap, all are BONDED CONTAMINANTS that if left unchecked can do serious damage on your vehicles paint. Great video tutorial, Chelsea ! I've also seen a lot artillery fungus on vehicles, and it seems to me that it is more attracted to White Finish vehicles than any other color... You did such a great job of removing All that fungus ! The Rav4 looked beautiful after!!!

I went for 70 years without using any type of scraper on paint. Last year I bought some plastic razor blades and used them twice they are cheap investment that comes in handy.

It’s funny I just dealt with this today on a 15 passenger Salvation Army Transit van ! I was able to get the majority of it with my pressure washer an APC pre soak , and then foamed with a heavy concentration of max power amped up with a string APC let it dwell and attacked it with the pressure washer up close and personal like. It got the vast majority of it without having to resort to more labor intensive measures on that big ol hoss!

@@HobbyPackRat not really. The clay bar might eventually work, but it takes more than a minute and hard hard scubbing for each little spore...and I have hundreds of them all over the truck, so I'm just going to forget about it.

Chelsea, this was a terrific video! 👏 I've not seen the "mold" issue ever addressed - first! I've dealt with it but never really knew what it was. Ooof...this vehicle was a mess! - good job on revitalizing it. White paint can be your friend as you can "see" the problems easily instead of darker paint in the same condition where you have to work a lot more by feel... I suggest the Turtle Wax Max-Power as pre-wash for these situations - it has worked tremendously for me. I've not used that plastic scraper before - does that accept plastic razor blades? That is what I use. I always keep a couple of those in the pocket of my detailers apron. Gulp!...hey, if used cautiously they are a hand-dandy piece of the arsenal. Really good subject matter here! Stay cool! I did a full size pick-up interior (black) in this heat...ugghh.🥵

I also put a light coat of A and D ointment on the piano black surface outside...and it has been working wonders..all insect and bird poop doesnt not stick..

Was looking at a couple of videos as my ex-wifes car has had these spots for ... years, yes years .. on the roof of her car. Nothing worked getting these off. Tried all kinds of soaps, alkaline, acid, vinegar, cheap car polish and whatever. Even going over with a fingernail you couldn't even feel it. There where patches of these things. Some part they were like hundreds in a small area. Not having clay or wanting to use tools, since I don't have them nor the experience, I tried Meguiares ScratchX v2 that I had lying around just to test. Cleaned a small spot with hot water and soap first, dried, tested with a small dot of the stuff and some very fluffy cloth. It actually worked. Happily to report that after 30 min of hard work the roof (the only place they were) is as good as new. First washed and dried it as to have it as clean as possible not to make scratches. It took some serious elbow grease but the result is more than rewarding. After buffing I saw swirls but it was the dust of the scratchX on top of the paint so a light mist of water and a towel to dry it the roof was 99.8% clean and then some ceramic detailer and it looks like it hasn't looked in years.

I actually just bought my first clay mitt because I see you use them so much. The clay bar just plays hell on my hands having to fold it so often (former athlete and boxer). Hoping the mitt speeds things up like you show all the time

2:52 Noticing this big time on my wife's white Model 3. Bee poop, huh? The cars only 2 months old, thinking about a ceramic coating. These spots look like mustard when you wet them, concerned that they're acidic as well.

I use A and D ointment..works very well...had a buch of tar yestwrday all.over my brand new car....A and D ointment did the job..hopefully im not messing up the paint..just wanted to get that shit off

They had a lot of what looked like sap stains that had etched into the clear. There's not much you can do for that. Is that what you're referring to?

I bought a new second hand car recently and when I cleaned it, I noticed some similar black spots on the doors. They break off with the finger nail and took a LOT of elbow grease to remove! But I also found some black spots on the back that you can't get off with the finger nail and I couldn't wash away. After seeing this I'm wondering if it's rail dust and the rapid decon might work? 🤔

Very good video as usual. A quick question for your experienced mind if that's ok? Do you rate the new generation of tfr's? The non caustic, algae and seaweed based ones? I've been using one recently and I find it as good as surfex hd for it's cleaning ability, but not as foamy ( which is a shame ). So, not quite as god as surfex but, at dilution of 1.6% in a pump sprayer, considerably less expensive. What do you reckon?

When polishing the pad will have paint transfer on it or when claying it you may actually see color in your water

When is it not safe to pressure wash as a rinse. Like I just got a new car and my dad goes on about how it'll chip my paint but it looks safe with the Ryobi which is what I think I have. Is there a psi limit or what else could be a risk? Thankfully this car doesn't have any chips in the paint from previous owners.

Yes but it would possibly be removed more easily. Personally I haven't had any on my coated vehicle though.

I use baking powder toothpaste. Takes it right off with a bit of elbow grease!

Be careful as that abrasive without proper lubrication can scratch the paint

@@attention2detailswchelsea Thanks for replying. The paste itself should be good as far as lubrication goes. I also use this to buff out minor/light scratches on my glass fish tank. I've found it's not abrasive enough to cause further scratches and the black spots come off quite quickly.

amzn.to/3onrUaV its 13×13. Its not SUPER easy but I've got a good process for opening it and my height helps make setup easier. Locking in that first leg is the hardest but after that its easy.

Make sure to test it first as its equivalent to gasoline imo and might stain siding. Ive had good luck with outdoor bleach and a turbo nozzle

I have crepe myrtle tree stains in my paint and I'm finding it harder to remove than any other tree sap I've ever encountered. I've tried everything, bug and tar remover, clay bar, goo gone, mineral spirits, WD-40 and the list goes on. Has anyone been able to remove specifically Crepe Myrtle tree stains??? The stain is not sitting on top of the paint but has soaked down into the paint. It actually looks like it's below the clear coat, it's infuriating.

You’ll want to try to soften it as much as possible with a foaming presoak and some of it can come off with a good clay towel treatment but sometimes I need to pop the top off with my fingernail softly after it’s been softened by the soap. If that doesn’t work you can try Eulex from Koch Chemie but it may remove your protection so wash after using and reapply protection to those areas you use it on

White cars can present problems, however the owners should wash frequently and waxing the car every couple of months will greatly help. You had a big job with all that junk on the cars surface and you had the stuff and the know how to get the job done.

If you remove the tops they can be polished away but you’re polishing a much larger area vs a spot so while I do polish when the clay towel doesn’t remove it it only polish if I’ve mechanical decons fail

Chelsea in such a case can a cleaner paste wax that's made to remove oxidation light swirl mark and scratches also do the same job as the polish you applied to remove microscopic marks caused during your cleaning process here?

Cleaner waxes sometimes have more abrasives within them than a finishing polish but can be great for removing oxidation and clean the paint

Yes they work great. My Ryobi isnt the quietest but it works for me.

With the smaller pressure washers you have to choke down the flow to lift the PSI for foaming. Othersize it just introducing more bubbles like car wash consistency. And maybe Chelsea may do a sponsored backed pressure washer review.
